I myself am not, but a very close friend of mine will make a cake for us. It's part wedding cake and part birthday cake for my fiance, so it's a little more fun and casual. I hate fondant, so there will be none of that!

I really wanna try DIYing my cake but I haven’t baked much recently so I should play around with it again before I commit to the idea fully. I’m an artist so I love any opportunity to be creative and put my own style on our wedding! It’s important to me to make it as much ours as I possibly can. So I’ll pre-emptively say yes.. but we’ll see how things go!

I've been considering it, for sure. I love baking, and I have always done fairly elaborate cakes for my kids' birthdays. My fiancé hesitated when I first suggested it, just because he doesn't want me stressed about it, but I think it would be fun, and I love the idea of saying "I made that!". Our wedding will be near our home, so transport shouldn't be too difficult. Plus I'll have to practice, which means more cake to eat!! That might be the biggest selling feature of all Smiley winking

We're DIYing the cake as well. Borrowing some cake pans from a friend, my mom was a professional baker for years and is really excited to start practising out some recipes for us. I can't wait to try it out!

My mom was a Professional Cake Decorator in the past and My dream was that she would one day do my wedding cake. Now that time has come and Unfortunately, she got into a car accident 8 years ago and hasn’t worked since! 😢

We have a sweets table with our venue and plan on having a small 2-tier cake on top of it! (for cutting and keeping purposes, not to serve)

I actually wanted my fiance's cousin to make the cake for us she is so good at baking!

My mom might help and supply some cupcakes too!

We're doing a galaxy themed wedding and have been playing with the mirror glazes on cakes and it's honestly not that hard! Making it ourselves is for sure the way we're going!

My fiance literally joked about this last night... he found a 2 tier Oreo cake masterpiece on Pinterest or Instagram video or something... anyways... he said "this should be our wedding cake!" "We should make it!" "We could totally make this"....

No.... no we couldn't... haha. and all I said to him was "I'm not making my wedding cake, because I'm not spending the day before my wedding baking"...

So we've hired a lovely bakery to make a very small (4" and 6" tiers) cake (for saving and cake cutting), and then we will have mini cupcakes, and the venue has a S'mores Bar dessert option as well.

My sister is making my cake, and cupcakes. We aren't doing anything super fancy - we just want it to taste good, and my sister makes really yummy cakes!

I do cakes in my spare time, but I knew from the get-go I wouldn't want to be tasked with doing my own cake. It is too much stress for me, then I'd have to find a way to store it, and then transport it the day of.... Just all kinds of nope for me on that. hah!

I didnt consider doing it for a full cake. But I do enjoy baking and have been told I have the skills and have considered baking other pastries if we do a dessert and sweet bar. I have since decided I will just buy them if we do one.

My fiances family has done a bit of a tradition where instead of a cake (not many in their family actually like cake) they have all the aunts bring in a bar or dessert square of some kind and they put those out for dessert also by with an ice cream bar. We won’t be doing this at the wedding but may do something similar for the send off/ gift opening the next morning.

No cake crossed my mind. We did assorted desserts instead.

The thought crossed my mind because we are only planning on using a small one for the cake cutting ceremony - but now that it will be out of town I am thinking I may just buy one seeing as how if it doesn't turn out then there are no stores to get one nearby :/ If you have the time and money or expertise; go for it!

I seriously considered it, seeing as I don't actually want a cake but a cheesecake. But then I realized with work, and other last minute things and out of town family I wouldn't have enough time.

But I know people who have done it, so it is definitely possible - if you have the skill and know that you'll love what you've created.
