Wedding activity ideas

Caitie, on August 18, 2020 at 19:30 Posted in Wedding reception 1 7

Hi! I recently found out dancing isn't allowed at our wedding due to covid rules. Which makes sense but I hadn't thought of it and I'm very disappointed. Do you have any ideas of what we could do instead? I've been researching entertainment and games...I just haven't found anything that would be just as fun as dancing. Help please!

(Our wedding is September 12th 2020)

Thanks! Yes they did say we can do the first dance, which is good news! We can't do lawn games because it's a shared space with other weddings going on but maybe board games Smiley smile

Could you do lawn games? Board games on the tables? Just a couple of ideas to add to the great ones that others have already shared! I would think that you can still do first dance and father and bride dance.

I would plan a few things to entertain everyone at once (like the shoe game, the newlywed game, etc) and some things so people can entertain themselves at their tables (bride and groom trivia, photo albums or a slideshow of you two where guests try to guess your ages, wedding bingo cards they can fill out all night long). You can have a few small prizes for some of the games, or you can make the prize that they get desert first or something.

I think you'll need to stretch dinner service out a bit longer compared to usual in order to slip in entertainment. And without dancing, expect the party to end earlier than a typical wedding.

The Shoe Game itself won't be able to fully replace dancing. At most it'll give you 10, maybe 15 minutes of fun and then you'll have to come up with something else. Try including interactive games in between courses, like trivia. If you have audio-visual capabilities with a solid internet connection, online party games could be fun.
