Congrats... Could you get photos with your dad as opposed to Photoshop him in? When Troy proposed I wanted to get married that week at the courthouse and have a fake ceromony before a reception later... He disagreed since it would be "lying" to our guests and would have been a big deal to his side (mine not so much)... Ultimately what is good for one may not work for others... I don't think anyone could object to you having a reception, what does your family say about a second ceremony?

Hey Melissa! Welcome to the community and congrats!! That's amazing! It's too bad that your father couldn't be there. I can relate with your situation, it's not easy. You should totally do something to celebrate with him! I think it's a good idea. Even if you don't want to organize something big, you could even just have a special dinner, something that makes it meaningful for you two. What do you feel like doing? Do you prefer doing something big or more intimate?

I agree with Sam and Carolyn, it is totally up to you and your husband! If you would like to host a reception /party/dinner for a larger group you can, or you could even plan just a special celebration with the two of you and your father.

It is really a decision that you and your husband only will make, but if you really wanted your father you could do a dinner to celebrate your wedding!
