Wbat To Do With diy Projects for Travel and Post-wedding

Alexa, on November 20, 2017 at 01:11 Posted in DIY 0 12
Hi everyone! Hopr your planning is going well!
Our big day is coming quick - Dec 31 2017! 🎉 We have done a bit of DIY projects, mostly for the centerpieces. (Wine bottles, candle votives, flower vases, wooden slabs, large welcome sign, etc).
We will be travelling for the wedding, about 16 hour drive (Northwest Territories to Banff!). I want to make sure that everything fits and that it travels well on the way down. Also, I don't want to haul all this stuff back home for no reason.
So, just wondering if anyone has suggestions on how to transport decor and what to do with it after!
Here's a picture of the spray-painted and glitterized wine bottles! Loving how the silver, white, and teal is coming together!

I'm from Ottawa and there is this AMAZING app here called Bunz. Its kind of like Kijiji, where you post items, but the only rule is no money. Its kind of like a trading/bartering marketplace. Ive traded candles/tea/decor etc. for things like wine, gift cards, unopened food, toilet paper, etc. I've actually been looking on the app for wedding things, so I'm sure you'd have some success. Its a good way to declutter/get things you need without spending any money (also helps us screw the patriarchy/capitalism Smiley winking).

There is also a bunz Facebook page in Ottawa, so maybe check your area for one (or another trade/buy and sell page).

I would look on Facebook and see if there is a wedding buy/sell group for the area and post them now and let people know when they will be available and see if you can get rid of them that way.

No problem. We also had to take some wedding decor in the car but not too far lucky for us.

Yeah that's my worry too. I think I might do both - wrap them and then put them in wine boxes, that way I can stack the bottles without extra worry. Got a lot of stuff to haul! Lol. Thanks for the advice!

Awesome thanks Jen for the positive thinking! Send good vibes my way lol, I hope someone will take them off my hands Smiley smile If not I might just find a way that makes sense to donate them.

I suggest either a wine box or bubble wrap for the bottles. Make sure that they won't get knocked around or jostled while you drive.

I'm sure someone will! There is a huge market for used bridal items here. People are constantly posting things and it's a fight to get to the posts first to get the items you want lol

Yeah I might even try to organize that in advance so that it's good to go when we get there. Hopefully someone will want them Lol! 😂

For travelling, if you can, go to the liquor store and ask them for a few of the boxes that wine/liquor bottles came in. They have separators in them to ensure the bottles make it safely through shipping, so it would work equally as well for your centre pieces.

Another option is to go get a whole lot of bubble wrap to wrap each bottle, then alternate stacking them in boxes.

You could post your items on a buy and sell group where you are traveling to and see if somebody would be interested in purchasing them from you so that you don't have to travel back home with them.
