Ways to make a wedding fun?

Corabelle, on June 26, 2019 at 17:27 Posted in Wedding reception 0 6
We are having a typical wedding with the ceremony, reception, cake cutting, and dance. What are some things we can add? I'm thinking colouring pages for kids/adults, also we aren't necessarily doing a cocktail hour what can we replace that with?

    Hi there Corabelle Smiley smile

Is your venue outdoors? Is there some space outdoors to set up some games? If so, here are a ton of ideas from the WeddingWire ideas section - 7 Wedding Lawn Games That’ll Keep Your Guests Entertained. I like the Tic-tac-toe idea. It would be super easy to set up!

If your venue is indoors, here are some suggestion for games to entertain guests - 5 Wedding Table Games That are Guaranteed to Keep Your Guests Entertained, I love the I Spy and Bingo ideas as you could personalize them to your wedding!

If you have an outdoor space, lawn games can really add entertainment or have a bonfire (if allowed).

If it's indoors like mine, we're doing the Shoe Game where our MC asks my FH and I questions (i.e. who is more likely to pack for a trip last minute) and we lift up a shoe (either mine or his) to answer. It doesn't take too long to execute and the last wedding I saw it at, it got a good chuckle out of the crowd.

You can also have a deck (or 2) of cards at each table for guests. Colouring books for kids is also a good idea! You could also do dance battles (i.e. bride vs groom, bridesmaids vs groomsmen, guests vs each other)

Outdoor game choices sound good and bowling is an easy set up. Musical dance is something to get everyone on the dance floor to get everyone up after dinner.

We hope to have bonfires - any chance there is an outdoor space at your reception where you could do that?

Any chance there is an outdoor area ? Lawn games are always fun.
People enjoy watching the bride and groom do the shoe game as well. If no outdoor space you could still get some easy board games for people that don’t like dancing. (Jenga, Connect 4, uno, crib ... etc)
