Way to include your dog in your ceremony?

Racheal, on April 11, 2019 at 09:30 Posted in Just married 0 14

In what ways did you or do you plan to include your dog in your wedding? I've seen it go awry, but only in ways that ended up being endearing stories to tell later on. We have a really well behaved pup, and are thinking about including him in the procession before I walk... something like this:

We have a very energetic boxer mix named Honey and I wanted her involved in our special day because she's kind of like our first child LOL Because we knew it would be almost impossible to include her on our actual day we had her in our engagement photos instead AND for our wedding favours we are doing little tubes of Honey...more of a funny add on than anything LOL

We have a Fox/Boston Terrier and he's about 20lbs. My cousin had her Golden walk down the aisle and it was on a beach... sand. everywhere. LOL

She's perfect! Smiley cry Smiley heart
Is her bandana vinyl-printed? We're getting a similar one for our little guy for engagement photos!

We have chihuahuas would have been part of our wedding wearing a suit for our boy Raja and a pretty dress for our girl Abu. However, the case was it was a dog free venue.

The way our kids would be involved is by having the wedding party walk them down the aisle with their outfits and be by our side at the ceremony.

Aww that is so sweet! My dog isn't patient enough for the walk down isle. But I want to include him in the photo's. I have someone who is going to bring him and can't wait to have him in it. What type of dog do you have? I have seen a bridesmaid walk a dog down the isle like MOH

I love all of these ideas! I have two cats at the moment, and while they will unfortunately not be ring-bearers (despite my many many attempts to persuade the FH that they could totally manage it), I am planning to take pictures with them while I'm getting ready the morning of Smiley smile

We'll be having our girl be our Dog of Honour or Flower Dog or something. She'll walk down the aisle, although we haven't figured out who will accompany her yet. She'd 100% stop at every single person to snuggle them if she went on her own Smiley laugh FH's grandma was scandalized when we told her lol.

Such a cute idea, too! Another I've seen is naming a signature drink after your furbabies at the bar - or naming the entire bar. Like this:

Aw that is such a cute idea!! Our venue doesn't allow animals, otherwise I would definitely have my dog there!

Since she cant be there, I got large print of her done from our engagement shoot, so I have that in a frame to go next to the card box. I also got that same picture printed on custom made postage stamps for when we send out the thank you cards Smiley smile

I Love that idea. Just Make sure your venue allows it. And maybe practice pulling it in a wagon before hand?

Maybe make sure the person pulling has treats in their pocket. Even if your pup is really well behaved their are a ton of distractions with people, smells, noises or wondering why it isn't with you or your Groom.

Our venue doesn't allow our pups, and we didn't want to hassle someone with driving them back out to FH's parents. So we just included them in our engagement photos. Plus our one would be way to distracted and probably bugger off somewhere following her nose.

An alternative too is not to necessarily include them in the ceremony, but to bring your pup along for your wedding photos for sure!

Unfortunately we aren't going to be having our pup in our wedding (wouldn't be fair to the cat), but when I was thinking about it I figured I would have her walk down the aisle with our rings attached to her collar or something.

Edit: And if it's a boy dog = Best Dog, girl dog = Dog of Honour
