Virtual Bridal Shower?

Haylee, on May 4, 2020 at 20:40 Posted in Before the wedding 0 8

By the looks of it, we may end up eloping on our date July 25 this year and having a reception later on with family and friends. I'm still wanting the experience of a bridal shower and at this point it may end up being done virtually.

Has anyone out there considered doing their bridal shower online amidst this pandemic? Or has anyone actually done it yet?

I'm thinking I will have a virtual bridal shower as well. I've read lots of great articles on the internet about it. My aunt will be hosting and she will send out little packages in the mail for everyone including the invitation, instructions (how to log in, sending gifts, etc), bridal bingo cards, a few decorations and a couple of treats.

It will be my mom, aunt and cousin (bridesmaid) at the main site with everyone else streaming in from wherever they are. It's fantastic as people who live away who couldn't make it to an in-person shower can make it to a virtual shower! I'm really looking forward to it.

I haven't done one or attended one, but one of the youtubers that I watch just had a virtual Baby Shower and it worked great! All of the guests sent gifts in the mail or ordered gifts to her address, then they still had the guessing game for how long a string to wrap around her belly and everything.

I think it would be really cool to be able to say you had a virtual Wedding/Bridal Shower Smiley smile

I've heard some are just going to have their wedding shower after their elopement once they can have guests gathered. I like that idea and think it's fine. The thing is, my fiance and I don't live together so I was hoping to get some of my registry items before we get married and move in. My aunt suggested holding the virtual shower before our wedding with enough time for guests to buy gifts and mail them to me so I can open them on camera in front of everyone.

I hadn't even thought that far, but I'm sure we could at least still do those printable word type games that you would typically hand out. I'll have to look into the games department a bit more haha.

I have the same plan as you. The other day I was thinking about having the shower before having the reception. What do you think of that?

    That could be fun!

Would you still have shower games? I'm picturing the clothespin game, but with someone being the referee who keeps track of who said the taboo word and who caught them. I'm a dork who loves shower games.

    That’s a cool idea!

It probably wouldn’t work for us just because the majority of our guests are not tech savvy and wouldn’t have a computer or smart phone/device. That’s the only issue with it for me.
A couple of people I know did their stag and doe draws and stuff online and guests liked it!
