Venue help...

Amanda, on November 6, 2017 at 14:42 Posted in Wedding reception 0 13
Help! So I'm in a bit of a situation. Originally I had planned a destination wedding, we put the deposit down and had everything ready to go and then due to some family issues we had to cancel and we lost our deposit. So then we planned a wedding in Langley BC but it looks like that isn't going to work out as the location changed ownership. Our wedding is supposed to be July 21st 2018 and we were planning a 100 person backyard garden wedding and now with so little time and everything booked I'm not sure if I should cancel it all or what to do. Any suggestions?

I do love the casual vibe, a celebration among friends and family. I will definitely have to explore some local parks! Thank you Smiley smile

That sounds really awesome! And yes liquor might be an issue. I'd have to look into that. Thank you Smiley smile

I have so many things swirling through my head! A park may be a good option. I'm finding it challenging once you have an idea in your head of what the day will look like to completely adjust it. Joys of planning Smiley atonished

Do you know anyone with a big backyard property that would be willing to host your wedding? I think you can make it work no matter what! The suggestions of a local park are also a good idea. You could have a picnic theme and everything. It could have games and be very fun and casual.

Have a look at the local parks! Campbell valley regional park has some beautiful facilities... OR we are doing our ceremony at Aldergrove Regional Park. They have a picnic shelter big enough for 100 people there. The only issue i can see there would be getting a liquor licence. We would have done the whole wedding there but i wanted people to be able to camp onsite overnight so we will be heading to a backyard after the ceremony there.

What about in a local park? I know some parks will rent out spots for a fee or possibly even free? Wouldn't hurt to look into that?

Thank you Smiley smile We may have to just downsize the guest list or re-examine our plan. I don't know why people don't want to rent you their property at an affordable rate lol You'd think a backyard or garden type wedding would be easy but so far no such luck. I really appreciate your input though!

I honestly think that you’ve got more than enough time for a backyard wedding. Or any wedding! The only tricky thing would be to find a backyard big enough to hold 100 people. But if/when this is done, the rest will be pretty much set Smiley smile
I know it must feel overwhelming and so, but take a deep breath, hug your partner and start over Smiley smile

Oh dear.. Maybe postpone it? So that you have time to get a new venue.

Thank you for the reply Smiley smile and yes I was excited for it but the issue is we may not have a spot to have it. So basically I have everything rented and no venue now. So that is a bit of an issue lol
