It was a 1912 school house with wooden floors, vaulted ceilings, close to home. Lots of land for photos, no one around the area. Included everything tables, chairs, dishes, etc in full kitchen and it was only $100

Hmm... without knowing what your original venue is like and with your partner being so specific, not sure how else to help you. I think your only choice is to move the wedding so you stay at your venue or convince your fiance to compromise on another spot.

Have you tried hotels in your city? You can book smaller meeting rooms instead of large banquet halls.

Four Points By Sheraton has a decent sized meeting room that can be further divided up so that the capacity is 40 max. This will allow for your 10 people +1 limit (30% of capacity) while maintaining physical distancing.

Your local Holiday Inn also has rooms that fit 40 theatre style, which allows for physical distancing.

Does Barrie have any Wedding Chapel or Pop-Up ceremony services for small groups? They usually include everything you need for an intimate ceremony, photo time, and maybe some light refreshments.

Where the group is potentially small can someone host it in their home or yard? Rent some lights from a place like Long and McQuade and make a twinkle light fantasy backyard wedding? Or is there a public park with a gazebo for cover in case in rains?

OMGG i am so sorry!! did they give you your deposit back? since most people have postponed their wedding there should be tons of venues available

Did the venue cancel for a covid related reason or something else? Can they not honour your day with the ten-person limit?
Perhaps with your day being in August, you can find a spot outside?

Has your venue given you the option to postpone to next year?
