Venue asked to change ceremony time

Christa, on April 27, 2019 at 13:18 Posted in Wedding ceremony 0 7
What is your opinion?
We've signed a contract. We were the first to book on this day. The venue told us we had 2 hours for the ceremony. They have made a mistake and booked another one 1 hour after our 2pm time and now are asking if we can change our time to 1pm which messes up our whole schedule. There are a few orher mishaps on their behalf as well. Not sure what to do.
Thank in advance for input!

Changing the time is a bad idea since they gave you the first pick. If you do take that chance, the venue should be giving some compensation beyond their contract. Paying for the invitations is also nice of them to make up for your guests on their part.

You're welcome, I really hope it all works out since this is such an unusual situation! I guess that's nice that they offered to pay for you to re-order new invitations, but the discount would really be more helpful lol. Good luck!

    Thank you ladies!
I'm going to think over the weekend. We will literally have random people hovering around waiting for the next ceremony while ours is happening so it's a little worrisome if the venue doesn't change the other ceremony times. So annoying!

    Hi Bianca,
Yes, save the dates are out and invites and inserts ordered but not sent. They've offered to pay for new invites but the time change means only I can get makeup done and 15 min to spare before the ceremony 😳
And a bunch of other juggling with entertainment etc..
I'm thinking the same thing with a discount.
    Thank you for the response!

Our venue did this a couple months ago, after I had already ordered invites with our ceremony time on it.
We also were the first to book on that day and were given first pick of the ceremony times. Our venue ended up figuring something out with the other couple and we have been able to keep our ceremony time.
I would just straight up let them know that you already have your invites and your day planned. That’s a little short notice to be changing a ceremony time!

My first reaction would be no, please see our contract.

I also agree with Bianca and I'd be asking for some generous compensation for the BS.

I’m assuming that your invitations are all ordered and ready to go (if not sent already?), so I’d tell the venue that no, you’re not going to change unless they give you something (like a generous discount for the inconvenience). This isn’t your problem and they really should be making more of an effort to keep you happy if they’re asking you to change your start time.
