72 hours is more than enough to say "I'll get back to you." If they can't even do that, I'd move on.

I work in the event business and if I took 72 hours to answer an email without an auto-response indicating I'll be slow, I'd be fired.

It depends.

I know a lot of venues have laid off most of their staff and there's probably only one person handling all booking requests, which can be rough.

But at the same time, no one is spending hours out of their day managing the floor, conducting showings, and coordinating events anymore. So 48 hours to not even acknowledge you saying "we'll get back to you with a quote" is a bit long, in my opinion.

We’ve been having the same struggle so I feel your pain! Though I think 48 hours is pretty reasonable during early days


Our original top choice venue hasn’t gotten back to us over a period of 6 months which is quite clearly outrageous 🙄 so in any case, they’re out! We’ve finally found another venue that we love and now it’s taking like 2 weeks between emails to try and book and I’m getting a little frantic!

I personally don't think 48 hours is too long. A lot of vendors are very busy right now with trying to accommodate everyone that is wanting to postpone to another date or trying to make the current situation work for couples that are still wanting to get married during this time. I would say if they don't respond within 5 days of you sending emails, send another one. There's no harm in sending a second email just to make sure

Have you sent them any messages since? I would almost at this point just express that you love the venue but will have to look elsewhere soon. Maybe that will put some urgency on them?

View quoted message Exactly!!! If I don't hear from them soon I will start looking at other options! But this location is PERFECT. It would be a river front ceremony that is a 2 min drive from the reception location!
Our backup option is still beautiful but its about a 15 min drive (still not too bad) but no river just pretty trees

That's so tough. It makes you feel like they don't care about your business. That happened to us with another location we were interested in. You would think especially in these times they would be all over people who want to book.

View quoted message I feel that! Im trying not to be "that bride" but its coming up on a month and that is beyond ridiculous to me!! My initial email to them was March 5. I don't think it should take 2 months to get a ceremony location booked!

I think 48 hours isn't too bad for a response time. I've been waiting for a response since April 1 from our ceremony location...


Right now I personally consider within like 3-4 days reasonable. Id think closer to the wedding their response times will get better due to the higher urgency needed
