Uplighting

Hank, on March 3, 2020 at 13:15 Posted in Wedding reception 0 10

Anyone using uplighting for your reception? How many are you using? Are you surround the whole hall or just lighting specific architectural points?

We are dong up lighting around the entire hall. I believe it is a total of 30 lights. So around the walls and the head table.

We are using up lighting behind the head table only. Chose a soft white/pink and it really illuminated the whole front half of the room. At first I thought it was cheesy- but once I saw it set up at the venue it was really nice and soft.

We had light blue uplighting to match our wedding colours on the two side walls. It added a nice blue Icy glow which I loved

Our package that we have with our DJ has 8 uplights and if we choose not to do a slideshow (which we probably wont because it takes too much time) we can get an additional 2 - I think. We are using them around the reception hall. Our reception is going to be lite mainly by artificial candles (We have a lot of kids attending and didn't want anyone burning themselves) so we think it will add a nice touch.

I just checked my invoice - the tables are being pin lighted - not uplighted. Only uplighting will be behind our head table!

We have to use their AV company so I'm not sure how they're doing it either. My assumption is that the uplighting will be on the table somehow but I could be absolutely wrong.

Yeah, we're debating it too. Our space has no special pillar/statue or fancy wall for us to highlight so it's either flood the room with a special colour or do nothing.

Hmm just curious as to how your vendor is uplighting each table. I'm assuming you're using rounds. Wouldn't they risk the guests accidentally kicking the lights? Wouldn't everyone start glowing a funky color?

We’re doing uplighting near our head table and I think each table actually has uplighting as well.

We haven't decided about uplighting yet but our plan was a few spots to highlight the architecture of our venue. I feel like the more you have the less special they seem.
