Unplugged weddings

Katelyn, on August 18, 2017 at 11:49 Posted in Wedding reception 0 10

I've seen many cool sign ideas asking guests not to use phones or cameras during the ceremony (common sense, isn't it?)... what about an "unplugged" reception too??

Ugh...

We're having an unplugged ceremony, but since our photographer wont be staying for the night, people have free range at the reception to take pics and upload them for us to print out.

We are having an unplugged Ceremony. We have complete faith in our Photog and want her to be able to capture our ceremony without interference!

If guests want to take pics at the reception, go for it!! we will make a hashtag for our reception so that we get "tagged" in all the photos posted on social media.

Still debating about the unplugged idea at the ceremony but as for the reception I live in a rule area and good luck finding a service spot first of all. But as for photos I love the idea of sharing photos with the bride and groom. And I want to have a photo booth set up for people to take photos with their own phones/cameras of our wedding. I encourage photos. Even hashtag us so we can have those crazy memories.

I think that if people are taking pictures with their cellphones or their own cameras that's disrespectful unless they close family. Especially if the bride and groom are already paying for a professional photographer.

We did an unplugged ceremony and told people that they could use their phones at the reception. Very few actually ended up using them.

An unplugged reception is hard for people, I think. You get all dolled up, you want to take pictures and document the night with your friends and family. Also, some people have personal emergencies or very demanding jobs that making unplugging for a whole evening very difficult.

I will be doing an unplugged ceremony. I feel like it would be more difficult to have an unplugged reception just due to the length of time. It would be great if you could though!

You'd think that people would realize that it's rude AND that you've literally paid someone to come take pictures of the wedding, so these moments will be captured!

I think a sign and/or an announcement by your officiant is great for the ceremony, but that it's a little unrealistic to hope that your guests will stay off of their phones for the entire reception as well!

I think it is a neat idea but I don't mind if people check their phones during the reception. Lots of our friends have kids who are being left at home so they might be checking up on them which is totally fine. Unplugged during the ceremony though is just common courtesy although many people use their phones for taking pictures. Not sure if I want to tell my guests they cannot take pictures.

That would be fantastic but I don't think it's realistic. People are addicted to their phones. Just watch, as soon as the ceremony is over, everyone will be checking their phones!
