Unplugged Ceremony or Not?

Liberty, on March 19, 2022 at 19:32 Posted in Wedding ceremony 0 27

Are you having an unplugged Ceremony or are you allowing guests to take pictures?
Unplugged Ceremony or Not? 1

I am having an unplugged ceremony but I will have 1 guest taking pictures so I can have some pictures to look back on right after the wedding while we wait for the photos from the photographer. I finished my unplugged ceremony sign the other day!

Definitely don't want guests possibly getting in the way of the photographers!

At first we weren't sure of having an unplugged ceremony, but after discussing it with our officiant we have decided we are going with an unplugged one. It makes sense as we have 2 photographers (a husband/wife team) taking photos from multiple camera angles and it makes sense not to have guests trying to take photos and possibly interfering with the photographers (however unwittingly). We are allowing cameras/cell phones to be used at the reception.

I am definitely doing an unplugged ceremony! I hate looking back a photos and everyone's phones are being held up instead of seeing their faces. I want everyone to enjoy the moment!

Definitely going to have an unplugged ceremony. We hired professional photographers and videographers for a reason

We are not going unplugged as we want to see guests photos, especially from the reception. But we will ask the officiant to ask people to put down phones and stay present during the ceremony.

That's awesome! I wish we could have a 2nd shooter but it was out of our budget

Definitely unplugged. We're paying good money to have a photographer and a second shooter, so we'll have shots from different angles already

We did have somewhat a plugged ceremony with the guests able to take pictures from a distance above the ceremony site. We did have the space for our photographer and videographer on the main space for our wedding. It did work out great. Our Officiant did make the announcement to have all devices off while the ceremony took place and pictures

The only thing I would say is your wedding is close to the guests seating, plugged would be suggestable since the guests won't get in the way of the photographer. You have a good fair distance away from the seating arrangement, unplugged is okay since the photographer will have the space to work around you.

Definitely going for an unplugged ceremony - still working on a sign for it, since we are still trying to plan out exactly where our ceremony will be.

I have seen some suggestions that you can offer a "photo moment" during the ceremony where everyone can snap the photos they want, without disrupting the whole ceremony. I might ask my officiant to put this in there - so guests can get that photo they so feel they need to get (lol) while still letting my photographer do their job, obstruction free.

I will have to keep that in mind... I am not sure if I will really need one as our ceremony is at 4pm on a Friday... I only expect the "retired folks" at that time of day LOL

Walked up onto the altar?! I can’t even imagine how I’d handle that happening 🤯

Thats unfortunate the DJ screwed up. We have also added it to our wedding website. I think I've made it as clear as I can but I'm definitely expecting there to be the odd picture taken. I just mainly hope no one gets in the way of the photographer! I would be very annoyed if someone did what that aunt did!

We asked for an unplugged ceremony. We didn't have a sign but our officiant was supposed to make an announcement. It didn't end up happening because the DJ screwed up.

We did send an email to all guests with our request for an unplugged ceremony as well as have it listed under the FAQ on the wedding website.

Try not to be upset on the day of if not everyone follows the rule. It's inevitable that someone will ignore it and take photos anyway. It happens at every wedding, even with the officiant making an announcement. At my Best Man's wedding, it was members of a sports team the bride was a part of. At my brother in law's, it was an aunt who walked up to the altar in between the couple and the officiant!!! There's always that one person who thinks they're above the rules. Smiley angry Thankfully such actions are so cringeworthy pretty much everyone will sympathize with you.

I asked my fiancé his thoughts about this and he doesn’t really care either way. I’m fine with people taking photos but I don’t want anyone using flash or for a ringtone to go off - I’ll likely ask our officiant to ask everyone to make sure those things features are turned off

We're also going with an unplugged ceremony. I will be talking to our pastor to ask him to let the guests know that they need to put there phones away.

I also made my sign for the ceremony!

We are also having the officiant mention it! I think that's a good way to make sure guests are on the same page!

Yes I am as well! That’s a good idea to have one guest take some photos!
I have a feeling people won’t even read my sign so I’m having our officiant Reiterate to have all phones put away!
