Uneven wedding party

Olivia, on April 30, 2020 at 22:18 Posted in Wedding ceremony 0 6

Hi everyone!

My fiancé and I are going to be having an uneven wedding party. We are totally okay with this as I have quite a few close friends and family I can't imagine not having. He has many friends but only has a few he'd like to stand up with him. I will be having eight girls and he is undecided about his final number being three or four. I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas of how to make this look "nice" during the ceremony, I am not worried about photos or processional/recessional, strictly just how they'll look standing!

Anyone have creative ideas?!

Thanks in advance!!

They can stand one girl one guy and so forth and 4 girls on one side and 2 guys and then same as the other side. hope this makes sense

With my wedding having 5 BM and 5 GM - even though it was an even number, we didn't get any pictures at the altar with all of us in one shot because there were so many of us! I wouldn't worry too much about it as most if not all the pictures being taken will be of the two of you (plus the officiant/priest/etc.).

As for pictures in general with that # on each side, I would say to pair every GM up with 2 girls and if he decides to have 3 instead of 4 (which would be best case tbh), then still pair most of them up and just have them alternate male/female for pics. (BM/GM/BM/BM/GM/BM/Bride/Groom/BM/GM/BM/BM/GM/BM OR BM/GM/BM/BM/GM/BM/Bride/Groom/BM/BM/GM/BM/BM)

I have also thought about this exact same situation as we have an uneven amount as well - 7 on my side and 4 on his. Regarding how they are standing at the ceremony ... I might have 1 or 2 girls stand on his side to make it 6 and 5, we may mix it up and alternate between bridesmaids and groomsmen or we will just leave it as is.

Just an idea that could work for you ... I attended a wedding once where they had the whole bridal party sit at the front after they walked down the asile and only the bride and groom were at the alter (he MOH and Best man stood next to them). In their case, they each had 10 people on their sides so the room just wasn't big enough but the idea was very unique!

If the bridesmaids double the number of groomsmen, maybe you could get the bridesmaids to stand in two levels, with one being on a riser? That way, they're horizontally distanced evenly and from both audiences perspective as well as in the photos, the main couple is properly centred.

Alternate the order at the altar so it looks unique. Bridesmaid and Grromsmen that will be holding the rings next to you both.
