uk & Canada Differences

Hi everyone! I'm sorry if this question is a little silly - but I've had something come up that I didn't even realize was a thing and now I'm hoping you all can give me some ideas to relay to my MOHs.

So I was talking to my future MIL the other day and we were talking about "hen-dos" and she said "Whatever we do, I'm sure it will be a blast!" and I was just like "Oh? Well, usually it's just the bride and her friends out for a bit of a wild night." And it seemed as though she was quite offended. Apparently, it's unheard of in the UK for a mother not to attend a bachelorette?

Anyways, I know my girls already have a couple of things potentially in the works and I don't want to disrupt that - but I would like to include both traditions as that is important to me that we are as equal as possible in our backgrounds and upbringings. I don't want to do a brunch or dinner, as I feel as though that's a bit tired. Plus, I don't think the mom's will be too afraid of getting a bit silly.

I'm thinking to have something with the mom's earlier in the day and then going out with the girls later in the evening. Any suggestions?

Thanks!!

HELLO! we do that in my family - moms/aunts/etc can drink your girls under the table.

Spread out your celebrations! do it all! have a Hen party or stagette or wedding shower AND bachelorette!

Depends on your family, but get a cousin or something to plan the one for the older family, or just tell your MIL you would love for her to plan something - and to recruit help from whomever! then she gets what she wants, and you get a spare celebration!

Absolutely! I hope you can make it work in BC, I know there are places in TO that offer high tea...

Hi Nicole, how about having high tea with the Moms or a mani/pedi day that would help you get ready for your bachelorette party?
