Trying to make my winter wedding more summery...

Rayanne, on January 13, 2022 at 15:25 Posted in Wedding reception 0 17
Well the colours for our wedding have gone through so many changes. Originally we were going with red and silver with lots of winter sparkle (Feb then and Jan wedding). However when I came to making my flowers I couldn't find a shade of red that made me happy. Then my mom found an incredible purple dress for herself (which would have annoyed me in pictures with red). So I started looking more at purple/blue and silver. Trying to make my winter wedding more summery... 1
My daughter wanted a royal blue dress which I thought would look good with the purple my mom chose. (Mom would now match without being same colour as wedding party). I didn't want my MOH to spend too much on a dress so I went through her closet and found a black dress with royal blue flowers on it! Perfect everything was coming together perfectly. Then we had to once again postpone due to covid. Now my sparkly wintery wedding will now be in June..... How could I possibly get further from a winter wonderland? Now I'm looking at a way to incorporate the royal blue I already have to make it a lighter summery vibe.... I think if I add yellow that should do what I want.Trying to make my winter wedding more summery... 2
I may not necessarily go with sunflowers but I like the blue and yellow together. I think I'll try to dye some of my flowers yellow while the kids are at school next week.
How many of you ending up going in so many different directions from start to finish of your planning?

You were thrown a curveball and hit it out of the park! I am excited to see it all together

My sister suggested putting sand in the snowglobes but I don't think I want to. I have a friend getting married next winter I'll save them for her.

Rayanne I love the yellow, but it is a colour that can dominate very quickly what do you think about putting a bit of white in the mix?

It's shame about your snow globes- is there any way to make them more summery as well?

I already have everything in royal blue. I don't want royal and dusty blue. Trying to stick to just a couple of colours. I do like the bright yellow with the royal blue.

Like Liberty said, Dusty blue is an option, or even a dusty or light sage green. Yellow is also nice, and you can even do a baby.light version as well if you don't like the bright yellow...

Yellow tablecloths and flowers in my mind is a lot of yellow. I'd stick to the white tablecloths. It'll lighten things up which will be great for summer and really make everything else pop!

Going with the white table clothes. The venue provides and I didn't like the navy they have. Though I may text her to find out if they have a yellow. I didn't look at the yellow at all because it wasn't what we wanted for winter.

Were you originally planning to use coloured table covers or sticking with plain white ones? How about flowers?

I do have candles (LED only) in the vases of our centerpieces. I'll still use those. My snowglobe table numbers are not going to make the table lol. I just can't believe how much different our wedding will look by the time it's here compared to the vision 3 years ago.

I say do whatever colors you want to do for your wedding even if it's a different season and different month then what you first picked Rayanne! I totally think you can still pull of those other colors instead of changing a lot!

My fiance and I are going with Navy & Gold in August

We were originally Dec and then switched to September. If we kept it in December, we would've used more greenery and less flowers (even though in the end we didn't go too heavy with the flowers). Candles would've factored more into the overall decor if we kept it in winter.

Could also add some dusty blue? That might help make it look more summery!
