Transportation

Kelly, on June 4, 2019 at 00:39 Posted in Wedding reception 0 15
I have heard many opinions about getting versus not getting transportation and how it reflects the reception... If the wedding is two minutes out of town and happening in our hometown where 90% of the guests lives would you recommend us getting a bus service? or just ensure cabs numbers are posted and cab companies are aware of the need?

Our venue has shuttle service available to and from the venue. The hotel actually is providing this service for our out of town guests.

Hmmmm… are you worried people will leave too early if you don't provide transportation or leave early if you do? I still vote on just having taxi numbers available.

The distance from the hotel to reception is short, then transportation isn't needed since guests can carpool if they want and just get there on their own. This includes renting a car for out of town guests too or call a cab to get there.

Transportation needed can be inquired as to how much companies charge and if that time frame will include the travel time from the hotel to reception and back to the hotel end of the event. The charge is for one trip and not return, then i would feel its not worth it.

I think it depends on how much it would cost for the cabs. If it is super close and would be really cheap for everyone to get there then you should be ok to just post the names of cab companies. If it's a fair amount to pay for people to cab it there then you could always try renting like a bus or something? My friend is renting 2 school buses for her guests to get to and from the wedding and she said they are really reasonable for the price.

Personally we have decided that people can take care of their own transportation. We are getting married in a small mountain town. I have walked the further away on the same road as we are having the reception (so very close). We will have a 15 passenger van available to drive people (if there is a guest who doesn't drink and wants to drive people) otherwise numbers to the local taxi companies will be posted. I think it is an extra expense to hire someone to shuttle the guests back and forth. Nice to have, but our budget is not limitless.

I would post taxi services- talk to the local company and just say you will more likely need a cab posted between such and such time. I have been to weddings where had this and was thankful for it.

We thought about it, but honestly we are paying for majority of the wedding and didn’t have late night transfer money available. Our wedding is fairly close to where everyone lives, so we will be providing cab numbers or letting people know about Uber!

My wedding is half hour away from the church and I’m just posting cab numbers and trying to get a discount code from Uber.

I have cab numbers available and I know the cabs travel out to our venue with no issues and decent pricing... we don’t have Uber where we live and Most Eedding prices transportation but since we are just two minutes out of town I don’t think it’s necessary? I just don’t want it to affect how late people stay

I’d just ensure that there are cab numbers and whatnot. There’s also Uber available practically everywhere, so your guests should have no shortage of options.
