Too tacky? - breafast for dinner

Emma, on August 24, 2017 at 11:46 Posted in Wedding reception 0 14
Thinking of doing breakfast for dinner at my reception. It's a cheaper meal and a crowd pleaser. But I'm not sure if it would considered cheap or tacky. It would however feed into our very low key Lord of the Rings (and I mean very low key) theme; Second Breakfast! Thoughts?

Friends of ours did it! One thing I will say... they had a lot of leftover yogurt (no one ate it!) so be aware of what you are serving.

On the invite/wedding website they used they did a call out that it was breakfast for dinner - just so no one would be surprised!

Seems like a fun idea but be prepared for a lot of eye rolling and push back from your guests. Some people will feel cheated, especially if they're anticipating a traditional meal.

I love that idea! Very fun and low key meal that can be savoury and sweet and include a lot of proteins to satisfy people. If that is what you want to do, it doesn't really matter what others think. Also really love that Bilbo pic!

Love it. Breakfast for dinner is one of my favorite things.

And totally goes with an LOTR theme.

    Second breakfast all the way!

I love it!! If I was a guest at your wedding, I would be pumped! Breakfast buffets are one of my favourite things. What sort of breakfast options were you planning?

I realize I'm outnumber but... I'm not crazy about the idea of serving breakfast for dinner. If you moved the reception to noon, I could see it. There are other ways to economize and still give your guests an actual dinner. Sorry if my opinion irritates anyone.

I love it! Everyone likes breakfast and its something different than the usual. And i love the the low key lord of the rings theme! We will be using the song 'concerning hobbits' for our groomsmen and bridesmaids to walk down the isle to Smiley winking

As long as there is enough food for everyone, and your menu accounts for the dietary needs of all your guests, I say choose whatever foods you like! Especially if your reception is informal I don't think people will object to breakfast/brunch foods.

Great idea! We're serving brunch (our wedding is daytime) but if we were doing an evening wedding, we would still keep the menu the same.

I love this idea! I think you should eat the food you want to eat at your wedding (not the sort of food you think you're supposed to serve). Smiley smile
