Too Late for an Engagement Party?

Kaitlyn, on March 1, 2019 at 11:40 Posted in Before the wedding 0 16
We’ve been engaged for 2.5 months and we’re planning our wedding for August 2020. Is it too late to have an engagement party?

Have an engagement party! Two months is honestly no time at all before having an engagement party.

Not at all! We got engaged in August of 2018 and we're waiting until the summer (2019) to have ours.

Have your engagement party whenever you like! 2.5 months isn't that long, really - we had a small engagement 'dinner' like 5 months after the actual proposal Smiley xd

Its never too late to have an engagement party. For most couples I know within the family including ourselves, there wasn't any as to have everyone come to one celebration and put all the costs for that one day.

It all comes down to the couples preference to go ahead and have one or pass and just wait until the wedding time.

It is never too late for an engagement party. Some of the cute games etc. may have less meaning, but any time to celebrate with family and friend is great!!! Plus people that will be attending the wedding, but don't already know each other get a chance to meet and to know each other better.

Not at all! We got engaged October 2017 and waited until summer rolled around again to have our engagement party! We had ours summer of 2018 so still a whole year ahead of the wedding.

It's definitely not too late to throw an engagement party. Your wedding's more than a year away (based off your profile on here) so I'd say you're safe.

I don't think it's too late to have an engagement party at all. As Tori said it's a great opportunity for each side of the family to get to meet one another before the wedding. For me also our engagement party created an opportunity for my fiance to meet some of my extended family that he hadn't gotten the chance to meet yet too.

No! I got engaged in February and we waited till August as we wanted to give people few months notice and have time to plan it. It was really nice for our families to get to know each other and the wedding party.

Not at all - at least I don't think so.

An engagement party is for both families to meet each other so if you wanted you could even wait until it's nicer outside in order to have a BBQ. I would say that the only point I find it to be too late is if your wedding is in less than a year, and of course there is the exception to that if your total engagement is only a year or less.

It's also okay to not have one - I didn't. It was too much work to get a date where my family and his two sides were able to make it.
