To have and to hold in case "you get cold"

Nadia & Steven, on February 10, 2020 at 12:18 Posted in Wedding ceremony 1 11

SO, I was really wanting to do this for my ceremony since it's an outdoor one on an everning in October... so it could be a gamble whether the weather is going to be nice to us and not be cold.

I was looking EVERYWHERE for the best place to buy bulk blankets/throws that didn't break my already poor bank and then I thought to myself while my bridesmaid and I were shopping for her at a Value Village (thrift store for non-canadians (idk if it's anywhere else)). WhY not buy blankets from HeRE... so that's exactly what I did, yeah, none of them match but that's whatever. It'll be something warm. Just have to wash them and roll them and there we are. Blankets. Big and small.

SO all in all, if you're in a pickle, just go check out your local thrift store. Smiley smile

I was unsure about using blankets or not for my reception (outside in a tent) because I couldn't find any in bulk either at a good price and I just have a bunch of old airline ones collected from flying to visit family!!

    Good to know!! Thank you!

Do it!! I actually found really inexpensive blankets from Ikea ($1.49CAD), wrapped a ribbon that matched my wedding colours and made a sign. The blankets were a hit and people loved taking them home. I’ve been getting pictures from guests taking them to sporting events or on vacations (due to being lightweight and easy to pack). It ended up being a warmer day for my wedding but they really came in handy when it rained for only 10 minutes in the evening and the people sitting outside used them to shield from the rain haha. I also put a bin next to the blankets with a sign saying “please return blankets here” for people who didn’t want them. I simply laid a spare white table cloth over a large Rubbermaid storage bin for that (no one noticed it was a bin haha). To have and to hold in case "you get cold" 1

That's a really great idea, especially if you want something thinker than a fleece blanket!

That's a great idea! I've been getting some of my things from Value Village too. I have been donating some things that I don't need, getting a coupon for donating, then using the coupons. My best find was a big glass beverage dispenser.

Oh okay, ya - we bought over 200 from Ikea (bus used them as favours) and whatever left over we had we dispersed to close friends and family and the rest to the tent city we have in Winnipeg.

I only got like 11 blankets but some are larger than others. But each costed from 4 dollars to 11 dollars.

Depending on how well I can roll them, I might go get more. And if no one wants them after wards I'll keep some and donate the rest to shelters.

Damn, didn't even think of that - how much did each blanket roughly cost if you don't mind sharing? I ended up paying $2.49/each from Ikea (although they didn't need washing and were already rolled - still needed to put ribbon on them to make them pretty).

Thrift stores are great for prices for the items they sell. Can't go wrong with that idea of blankets to keep warm.

Alternative to blankets is shawls to keep warm too by wrapping around the person available to guests.

For sure! VV is a lifesaver! Also good spots to check out are the local fb marketplace groups. I’ve seen a few people trying to sell blankets or other odds and ends after the wedding is over.
