Tipping Venders ???!!!

Samantha, on October 14, 2022 at 20:54 Posted in Before the wedding 0 10

So Iv read alot about tipping venders and I am Definity for it as I would tip anyone providing a service, but how much do you tip, do you tip a percentage or just a sum? all of my venders own their business and not just work for a company, Im also paying a large sum of money for things like the Photographer, he wont be doing any getting ready photos and our ceremony and reception are all in the same place so hes not running around, we have no bridal party to get photos of, how much is an appropriate tip? if i were to tip my Photographer say 15% thats an extra almost $1000.00 which is a little crazy in my opinion, im just so confused with it lol !! Any suggestions ??

We struggle with this as well, what's an appropriate amount, answer what you can afford and reflects the service. We will send their tips out with our thank you cards after the wedding, so if they weren't good sorry ya service was less than you've been paid, but if they make the day perfect, we will tip according to that without going into debt.... Im sorry but 15% of 2000 for pictures is $300... I dont plan on tipping anyone 300 bucks...

All our vendors are getting tips. Florist, Cake artist, photographer, mua/hair, a donation to the chapel. Gratuities are built into the restaurant we are having our reception, but we are still factoring extra in the event that the service is above and beyond what they are already adding.

The way I look at it, if you tip an uber driver or a food delivery person why wouldn't you tip the people working one of the biggest days of your lives? We are kind of combining the percentages of service and what we feel is right. Some people the percentage of service is way too low for my comfort, some are way too high so my fiance and I talked it through, found a middle ground we are both comfortable with and each vendor will get an envelope with that amount in it. Our photographer is also getting a more personal gift since she is now expecting a child and we want to give a gift to her and her husband for their baby

Depends on the vendor, florist, Dj, I wouldn't tip, they base their prices on time and product + tax but would leave them a good review.

Only vendor I would tip would be bartender and waiters, then tip hair and make-up.

It's what you can afford, a percentage or what you think was fair per person.

First off, you're getting charged $6000 for photography and they're NOT giving you getting ready photos? This better be a photography with amazing work to justify that kind of pricing.

But to answer your question, typically a photographer sets their own prices and a tip is not necessary. They would've factored in all the travel necessary for your event into their quote.

To be honest, I am not tipping the majority of my vendors. I will be tipping shotgun wedding - the company that is providing wedding planning, the officiant and ghe photographer for my ceremony. But I won’t be tipping the hair and make up artists or the restaurant we decided to have our small wedding. They ar both adding an 18% tip on the bill automatically so I am not paying more.

I will tip the videographer and my sunset photos the next night though after the work comes in.

We are planning to tip our vendors 10%. Maybe more for our photographer and videographer who will have alot of running around to do. Our photographer will also have our Thank you cards ready for the reception.

I would say to just tip a lump sum that you can afford and include a 5 star rating on all their platforms (google, wedding wire, etc) if they earned it. A good review and word of mouth brings them more business and more money than a 1 time tip!

So I struggled with this as well because all the vendors were the owner with the exception of the catering staff and the photographer. I also could not afford % so I simply tipped them all $50.00 with a thank you card (band members x 2, catering staff x 4, mua and hair stylist x 2, and photographer). Honestly, I do wish I would have given more because they were all amazing so maybe $100.00 each if I could redo but honestly anything should be appreciated!
