Timing for music to walk down the aisle.

Emma, on June 16, 2018 at 11:25 Posted in Wedding ceremony 0 7
Ok guys I’m trying to plan my music for walking down the aisle. I’m trying to figure out how much time is needed. It will be a DJ playing our music and I may have a song with lyrics so it’s harder to adjust the timing of that.

I’m only having our kids in the wedding party. So it will be my daughter (my MOH). Then my youngest who is the ring bearer. Then my dad and I (my dad will be 83 and walks a little slow). The other kids will have seated their grandparents and will be at the front already (we have 5 kids between us, I know it’s like the Brady bunch lol). I will only be playing one song for the recessional.

How long should the song be? One song I’m really thinking of is only 3 mins Long. We aren’t in a church, the ceremony is taking place at the same hotel in a banquet room that’s set up specifically for the ceremony.

We won’t be having a rehersal. We only have our kids in the wedding party, we have both been married before and will have gone over everything with officiant before.

Also the rehersal, the night before is not a good time to figure out that the song we picked is too short.

This is why the rehearsal is needed, I think, so you can figure that out

I estimated about 15 minutes for our walk in. The order was 2 flower kids, husband's wedding party, 2 flower kids, my wedding party and us. The distance was short yet the timing given inbetween 1 minute for each. We walked in 2 minutes we walked in given my mom and his aunt were included.

Although i looked the minutes of party walking in and us, it was delayed yet on time.

Talk to your dj. He should be able to help you with that if you have a general idea of how long it will take.

Editing in some instrumental music would not work. It would sound terrible because some of the songs have lyrics and it would be very obvious and just sound bad. Having good, meaningful music is one of the most important parts for us.

I don’t know what the exact measurement would be. It would depend on how exactly we set it up. But I’m guessing no more then 100ft, likely less then that.

I would assume that the length that everyone has to walk should be taken into account. May I suggest that you get the measurement and then time yourself and kids etc. that you have on hand to walk down that length and measure the time? Another thing would do have the some edited to be longer (instrumental parts) or put it on loop.
