Timeline of Engagement Party

Kelsey, on July 2, 2021 at 12:21 Posted in Before the wedding 0 5
How long after engagement do you usually have an engagement party?

With covid, have you decided to wait to have your engagement party? (And if so, how long after you got engaged will it be?) Or have you decided to nix the engagement party alltogether and move forward without this event? Is it weird to have an engagement party closer to your wedding date than the actual engagement date? 6 months after the engagement?

    I wish!

Just do it! if you want it and you have time, DO IT! timelines got screwed by COVID, do it whenever.

I wish we got one. COVID sucked and now we're too busy. (shift work sucks)

I think with covid there really are no timeliness that have to be adhered to. Everyone understands that things are put off until it can be done safely. If you want an engagement party after a year and your wedding will be in a few months I dont see any harm in it. We personally didn't have one because it just didn't seem important to us.

My fiance and I didn't have an engagement party since both of us agreed that we didn't need one and it's not really something we wanted either

We are in Ontario as well so we are hoping to be able to do something by the end of the summer, which will be about 4-5 months after getting engaged. It's a little different for us because we aren't getting married until 2023 so it will still be spaced out. The only issue you may have is you might feel like you have a lot of events back to back since you're less than a year out now. But at the end of the day it's up to you!

My fiancé and I have been back and forth on this topic as well for the past month. It’s tough to plan anything in Ontario right now as there is no clear plans on stage 3. However we decided to tentatively schedule a casual engagement party at our place in the fall. We reached out to family and friends to see if they were comfortable with a social gathering. If restrictions don’t allow for it then we will postpone until Spring 2022.
