Do you think 2pm is a good time to have a ceremony and than have a "cocktail hour" @ 5pm and 530 dinner and dance to follow

We considered 5pm because we have quite a few older people going

That's funny we are planning a similar schedule! I have a rough timeline I made on excel but I need to confirm with my photographer closer to the date and figure some more details out. We're aiming for a ceremony at 2pm and dinner at 5pm.

Tori's advice is always spot on Smiley laugh

I would also advise you factor in travels time for guests between the ceremony venue and reception (if separate).

When building a wedding day timeline, the advice I always share is to start at the end (or with any concrete times) and work your way backward. I hope this helps you once it comes to planning out the entire day's events Smiley smile

I would say it all depends on travel time & how long the ceremony is going to be.

My ceremony is only going to be 15 minutes at most and then straight to supper which is at the same venue.

You don't want the guests to have a short amount of time in between because then it's not enough to go do something or freshen up. Have you tried google mapping it to see what the rough time would be for them to go place to place and how much time they have to themselves?
