Thoughts on where to do a post-wedding reception party?

Lindsay, on October 7, 2018 at 19:49 Posted in Wedding reception 0 2

Hi all - my fiancé and I are thinking of doing our wedding ceremony at city hall with a small group of our immediate family. However, we want to throw a post wedding reception party a few weeks later. Ideally we would be looking Fall 2019 and want a low-key venue where we can do a BBQ with picnic tables, have a bonfire, lawn games, fireworks, buy and bring our own alcohol. It won't be a completely casual things, I still want all the cute rustic decor. Any ideas on where this can be done in the Durham Region or what kind of venues you would look for to accomplish this vision? Looking at approx. 150 guests. Thanks in advance.

No idea but the liquor laws in Ontario are very strict. When we looked at potential venues where we could bring our own we would have needed to not only get the license and buy the drinks but also hire a smart serve certified bartender and have insurance. I don’t know how much luck you will get finding somewhere that will allow fireworks. I can imagine you will need some insurance for that.

It sounds fair to do especially since you don't want to spend so much money for a hall. I have no clue on any spaces in the Durham region though could check on this site or on internet.

We are attending a reception this November after the couple eloped in Nova Scotia in August.
