Tent lighting

Robyn, on October 18, 2018 at 16:53 Posted in Wedding reception 0 5

We are having an outdoor tented wedding next September and I am looking for any advice on what to do for tent lighting? We are renting a clear top tent and the rental company can provide cafe string lights but they are really expensive! Has anyone hung their own lights? Was it a pain to reach the top of the tent?

I do find lighting for tents to be a time consumption to put up and needing a ladder for the height. Owning lights is even harder especially knowing your not keeping them after and storage space is not there.

Renting would be better if the tent set up company can also include lighting for you and they do a professional job of it.

The warm lamps looks nicer for the lighting and heat purposes. Its something I would choose for the evening to look modern.

Ooooh I love these, Stephanie! The date is September 13th. So hard to say what the temp will be - I think it could go either way.

What time of year is your wedding in? If its cooler out I've seen those fire lamp things that give off good warmth and light! Like the attached pic! An idea for some light and warmth!

Thanks for your feedback, Erin. We are doing this at my parents farm so luckily no decorating issues.

We we will most likely have the tent company do them but they are quoting me approx $1000 for a lights and I can certainly buy them cheaper. With that said however, I’m not even sure we could reach the top to attach them.

I would advise against this only because it could be a HUGE pain in the ass for you to have to do it yourself. The rental or an AV company knows what they're doing, the best places to put them, etc. Plus, your venue may not let you do any of the decorating yourself - do you know of this is the case? String lights are expensive, whether you buy them yourself or rent them, but uplighting around the tent isn't that bad - ask your AV company!
