Tell me about your venue!

Meaghan, on January 13, 2020 at 11:15 Posted in WeddingWire 0 8
The first decision we made when wedding planning was about where we wanted to get married. We wanted something outdoors, lots of nature, and (being honest here) inexpensive. We got married in a gorgeous butterfly garden in a park.

Was it easy picking your venue(s)?Did you pick 1 or 2 venues? What do you love most about your venue?Did it have any special meaning to you before you decided to get married there?
And, if you haven't picked your venue yet, what would your perfect venue look like?Would it be inside or outside?Rustic with wood beams, or elegant with chandeliers? Are you having any challenges finding your perfect venue? How far would you be willing to travel for your perfect venue?
Tell me all the details!

This sounds beautiful, Meagan! We are hoping to do something similar and get married at a conservation area we always hike at (and also where he proposed). We meet with them next month Smiley smile

We picked a Victorian venue in the middle of our city's historic district.
I have seen some stunning photos done in the area with all the old brick and the newer street art that I wanted our venue to be close to that part of town. It also has this big sweeping staircase that I'm hoping we can do our first look on.
It also didn't hurt that a coworker connection got us a nice discount!

We decided since half of the guest list would have to come from Toronto that we wanted something with little driving and rooms for the might. We wanted the grand type of wedding even if it is a little more intimate. The Americana checked all of our boxes nicely and there winter package is very reasonable. We booked the Niagara room since it is the perfect size for us. It has a beautiful patio area that you can see from the huge windows that look out. However I dont think we will get too much out of the patio since itll be dark by the time the ceremony starts lol.

It was really important to us to pick a venue that could host both our ceremony (outdoors was a must) and reception and we wanted something with a rustic vibe without being a barn. Our decision was fairly easy to make and we ended up choosing a small inn on Lake Huron that has a charming old refurbished coach house for the reception space. Their property is gorgeous; they have lots of garden areas, a vineyard, and access to the beach for lots of photo options. We'd heard their food is unparalleled and as an added bonus, our accommodations will be right on site. Also, we needed a pet-friendly venue so our pupper can be our ring bearer Smiley smile

Our venue was beautiful and really good on the budget given there was a lot to offer within our means. It as a conference center that also held weddings with activities for guests to enjoy on water and land. I had put my side of the family in a cabin being at the site of the wedding and reception area making it easy for my parents to be with them all. The main building had rooms too in which our suite was booked. The total of the venue was under $12K after everything added up. The venue was beautiful with lots of nature, waterview and away from everything surrounding the countryside. The wedding itself had large flower pots already cutting down on the décor and a beautiful site away from guests to get close for pictures.

There was another venue close by walking distance that was offering $20K for guests and meals excluding main courses to be paid plus bar and extra for drinks ranging kids to adults charged per person.

I've always envisioned my wedding to be an intimate affair in a space I know well since it would have sentimental feelings tied to it, and preferably outdoors. So that narrowed it down considerably lol. We had a couple spots in mind, but in the end FH's mom generously offered up her back yard! This also means a lot to FH since it's his childhood home, which makes me appreciate it more to be able to do this for him. The house also back on to a forest, so there's just greenery everywhere instead of backing on to other houses, so it really is the perfect spot for us.
