Tax tip: marital status

Lisa, on January 12, 2017 at 13:46 Posted in Living together 0 11

Yes it's the accountant in me, I know but I wanted to share this with you from the CRA. It's important to be educated in these matters! Good information for those of us who are getting married, recently married and/or common law, etc.
Media room - Tax tip: Changing your marital status may impact your taxes and benefits

The following information is now available on the CRA website:

Did you recently get married or enter into a common-law partnership? Did you separate or divorce? Were you recently widowed? It is important to inform the CRA about changes in your marital status to make sure you receive the right amount in benefit and credit payments.
