Summer brides Ontario

Charlotte, on April 30, 2021 at 11:38 Posted in Ontario 0 13
How’s everyone feeling about wedding planning in Ontario for July? I’m slowly losing the hope and motivation I had recently gained back (we changed plans and shortened guest list 2 months ago).
What are you hoping for? What are you expecting?

My venue requested additional deposit (on top of an additional deposit that we have already put in last year when we rescheduled), stating that this is "standard procedure" for rescheduling date. I know many venues are requiring this (additional deposit or "more upfront") however, it seems variable. Some venues seem to be keen to work with their clients. While others are happy to treat you like chopped liver Smiley xd Smiley cry

    Our venue was fantastic.
What do they say the additional deposit is for? Did prices go up? A fee to rebook? Just needing more up front? I’d be curious what the paperwork and so forth says.

A great message to remind us all to think about the meaning of marriage and a wedding. ❤️

I’d be surprised if it’s more than 25 too! That’s great your videographer can do that! We plan to video the ceremony for intended guests.

    Hi everyone,

I am curious for those that have had to postpone your wedding date, how have the venues been in response to this? I am currently in a bind, I have rescheduled my wedding date from September to June this year and would like to reschedule again. My venue is requiring an additional deposit on top of what we have already put down. We are trying our best to fight this, but they seem pretty adamant that the additional deposit is necessary. Has anyone had a similar experience? What did you do in the end? Any advice would be appreciated

Also, while this is all frustrating to no end. It is nice to see such a large group of people supporting each other Smiley heart

    Congratulations everyone!

Let's try to remain positive - we are with the person we love and are going to be marrying them. Would it be nice to have everyone there, yes, but is it a need - no....just you two, an officiant and witness. All the rest is a bonus. So plan accordingly, have a back up (worst case scenario) and plan away. We have postponed, and will not again, so yes we are too planning 25 people at home in our small backyard with tarps and canopies and a wish everyone will be there. But as long as my love is beside me, does anything else really matter!!??

Our wedding is June 4th and we have already rebooked from August 2020 so we are most definitely getting married! We are planning for 10 but obviously hoping for more. Our venue and vendors are OK with us waiting until the next announcement before the lockdown ends on May 20th to finalize numbers. With the large increase of vaccines this month things may get better but I still think the province will be slow to open up. I would be surprised if we can have more than 25 at our wedding.

On a positive note, our videographer will send us a video of the ceremony the following day which we can send out to those who could not join us at the wedding! I thought that was a great alternative.

Sometimes I feel that weddings have become a task on a to do list not something to look forward to. I know these weddings will be so beautiful and meaningful the day of - just sometimes hard to see right now.

I’m hoping for 25 outside at a private residence but planning for the worst case scenario of 10. I was naively optimistic our wedding would happen last year and was disappointed so I don’t have the same attitude this year unfortunately.

Let's hope they'll finally lower the AstraZeneca vaccine to young people so we can get vaccinated!

I feel ya! We downsized to 25 outside, everyone has been great. I just cannot see us cutting it any more. But I also cannot see us not getting married on the day planned. Really hope it doesn’t come to that but just so much uncertainty around it all!

I am hoping for 25 outdoors at a private residence. But it’s so hard. Like how do we try and plan anything and I don’t want any guests to get annoyed with having to consistently change plans. This is so tough
