Stag and Doe - dj or no Dj?

Kelsey, on March 1, 2019 at 10:13 Posted in Before the wedding 0 7

My mom is insistent that we NEED to have a DJ at the stag and doe or no one will stick around. We are still going to have music but she wants it to be more of a dance than anything.

Stag and does are know. For the party, the DJ will for sure add revenue to your pocket by making people stick around! The more partying the more money spent and more Booz bought!

A DJ is needed for a Stag & Doe in Ontario due to the music playlist and timing of the event. Not everyone will be dancing though you can make a game out of it.

I know when our MOHs put together our Buck & Buck for us, they had a DJ and played toonie games for booze to the winner nearest the bottle. Just let your guests enjoy their time with you and play games and dance if they want.

Our event was fun and all our friends and family came out to have fun.

I've never been to a Stag & Doe, but if it's anything like what Tori described, I think you need a DJ. If your guests are going to be donating money for your wedding, it seems cheap not to at least make sure they have a good time.

I suppose it depends on how much you expect to get in return, though.

I think as long as you have a solid playlist you don't necessarily neeeeed a DJ, especially if your venue has decent speakers

Though on the other hand Becky is right, if you have a DJ then they can take song requests, talk everyone in awhile and keep the party going.

In the end though, I don't think it would ruin the night if you didn't have one. I went to one once that didn't have a DJ- they had one of the groomsmen as MC for the night, announcing games and raffles, telling funny stories about the couple etc- it was a great night and I didn't feel like anything was lacking.

In Ontario- in my opion- you need a dj. I go for the music and dancing. If there is no dj to take requests or be there than there isn't much to do and people are expected to play games or raffles. I personally go for the dancing and music.

I'm not sure how different Stag & Doe's are to Manitoba Socials - but DJ's are a necessity IMO. I mean, socials make anywhere from $5,000- $15,000 on average so a DJ is nothing price wise.

It depends on the amount you are spending vs. what you are expecting in return I suppose.

I don’t think you need a DJ. We’re probably not going to have one, I think we’ll just make a Spotify playlist and play it through speakers from one of our phones so we don’t have to take the cost of a DJ out of our profits
