We had 10 businesses donate towards our raffle table. Some businesses I knew, some were businesses my parents knew or people in the wedding party knew. In local wedding swap sites sometimes people post asking businesses new to donate and a lot do as they want to get their name out there.

I know that here in Manitoba since it is more common to have a wedding social that there are tons of places that donate and if not they usually give a discount on buying stuff so make sure to ask about that when you go looking!

That, and for the most part big companies would put your ticket into a monthly draw because of all the donation requests that they get. As for Mom & Pop stores, that is where you were luckiest as they love getting their name out there.

Probably none to be honest. Not for a stag and doe.. Some business ill donate to the same kind of event if the proceeds are going to a charity.. it doesn't hurt to ask, but I wouldn't count on it.. Your wedding party should be donating things and if they have contacts they can ask for donations.. I've been to some where people worked at hotels or sports complexes and were able to get overnight stays or game tickets.... sometimes it's all about who you know !!

Asking for donations depends on businesses how they can make an exception to the rule. I know some stores have been good knowing me personally to give something for the event. Write a letter indicating what you are looking for and if there is any chance of donation given to the event. Your name and phone number to reach when they get permission by head office or the manager. Don't give up and try as much as you can going around the area and to your favourite stores.
