Stag and doe

Torie, on January 16, 2019 at 12:16 Posted in Before the wedding 0 4
Hi, my FH and I are debating hosting a stag and doe to raise money for our wedding coming up. But wondering if it's worth it. In your guys' experience, what have you seen/heard of in terms of what it costs to put on the stag and doe, and then generally how much you can make off of them?? TIA

The only person I've ever known to make money off of a stag n doe was my cousin, and she lives out in the country and was active in her community. They rented out the community centre and since there isn't much to do where she lives, all the locals came out. They filled the hall to capacity and made about $5000. However in the city, most people I know who've done them have only made $1200+$1500 when all was said and done. I didn't feel all of the extra work on top of wedding planning was worth the small amount of money you make. Too much stress!!

I've definitely seen them raise almost $11,000 but they do require some planning and organization.

We aren't having one since our guests/wedding party/parents live all over the province/country so to organize it would be too much of a hassle for us, plus my parents are contributing to the wedding so it wasn't necessary for us to have one.

I have only participated in Socials, which can make anywhere from $3,000 - $10,000

However, I have heard that Stag & Doe's make less due some things like liquor laws as well as games vs. a party so don't quote me on that range for what you are looking to do.

Hi Torie - congratulations on your engagement! Welcome to Wedding Wire!

We're not having a Stag and Doe, and I've never been to one, but my friend has been to about 6 in the past 2 years, so I know they're popular, and I would guess somewhat beneficial.

Once you've decided whether or not to have one, check out this article on how to plan it for inspiration, and helpful tips - How to Plan a Stag and Doe. Smiley star
