Speeches

Jo-Ann, on November 3, 2019 at 10:15 Posted in Wedding reception 0 9
Is it ok if only the groom gives a speech? I just found out the best man won’t do it and the my maid of honour is super shy.

My dad is not well so he probably won’t be able to and not really close to anyone else

The best thing about planning a wedding, is you can do it which ever way you want! It is your day, if you want a million speeches go for it, if you only want one, go for it! There is no right or wrong way to go about it!

We're not sure if we're having any speeches. Until someone approaches us asking to do one we won't worry.

I would say it's fine - if anything I would of course have you and the groom both give a speech. That and feel free to open it up to your BM's and GM's in case they would be willing to give a speech for you?

I know that at my wedding my Husband's Mom refused to give a speech as she would have went off about how she doesn't like that he changed his last name to reflect his Father's and put her last name as a middle name... and it hurt my feelings but oh well! Can't ask people to act how you would! Didn't really matter in the end, we had our MOH, 2 Best Men, and us give a speech.

We wont be doing speeches either. I dont want to put anyone in a situation that I myself would hate - public speaking blegh. We may thank everyone for coming and being with us that day but nothing more really.

It’s totally fine to just have one speech. Some people don’t do speeches at all.

I would love a wedding with only one speech. I am hoping to keep it down to one thank you speech from us my MOH wants to do one and BM wants to do one. I'll be timing them to keep them under 2 minutes lol

I think that’s fine! Everyone is different!

If the BM and MOH are shy or don’t want to speak, they could also make a PowerPoint slide show with their speech and you could play that? Just an alternative Smiley smile
