Special Ceremony Venue

Hello fellow WW friends!

I am wondering what will make or made your ceremony site special? Is it your local church? Did a sentimental event occur there? Did someone important in your life get married there? Is it a favorite destination?

For us, our ceremony is going to be outside surrounded by beautiful Autumn foilage. This is absolutely my favorite time of the year, and FH and I love spending quality time outdoors. It helps that the ceremony and reception location are all in one!

I want to hear what is special about your ceremony location!

One day in our first year together we drove by the venue on our way out to visit some friends. I was looking out the window and saw a sign for The Rustic Wedding Barn. I pulled the website up on my phone (quickly, because I was about to lose reception) and found the gallery. Looking through the pictures, I declared "we're getting married there." He laughed and said "okay whatever."

Not too long after that it went out of business. I don't know exactly why, but I heard it was something about code violations and costing too much to fix. I was so sad. I couldn't find any other venues that had that charm to it.
But then it was sold and reopened! Friends of ours got married there last year and found that their day-of person was quite nasty. When we got engaged, FH tried to convince me that we shouldn't even entertain it. I said "well we know what to expect, so we'll go into the tour with that in mind."
I tried not to love it. I really did. Like, honestly. But I couldn't! The whole time I was like "oh my god the Hayshed (ceremony spot) is so cute! But these people suck so I don't like it." Then "oh my god I can totally picture getting ready in the Parlour! But these people suck so I don't like it." FH said later that he could see the conflict on my face lol.
Then we asked about hidden fees. They said the only hidden fees are for moving the benches for an outdoor ceremony (which we weren't interested in anyway), and setting up for a downstairs reception instead of upstairs. We asked if they were able to accommodate a wheelchair going upstairs, and they said no. My mom has mobility issues and FH's brother is a quadriplegic (he can sort of do stairs but *only* if he's heavily supported by someone else). So it would have to be downstairs. But then the woman (we were being toured by her husband to start because the woman's previous appointment ran late) popped up and said "but wait, you're looking for when?" And we said "sometime after 2021" and she told us they have a chair lift in storage and they're just waiting for someone to come install it. "It'll definitely be in by then?" I asked. "Definitely."
So a few days went by. I kept trying really hard not to love it. Finally I looked at him and said, "I'm sorry, but I think that's our venue." He laughed and told me not to be sorry, but asked why I felt that way. I said, "because I've tried so hard not to love it but I just can't. When I see myself getting ready it's in the Parlour. When I picture walking down the aisle it's in the Hayshed. When I picture our first dance it's in the Loft. I can't picture it anywhere else."
"Okay," he said. "I guess that's our venue. You called it."

We chose a cute banquet hall with a lake view for the ceremony. For me, the privacy of having the whole property for us and our guests and not sharing space if we had gone with a private room in a restaurant, plus having the ceremony and reception in the same place, were both worth spending a little extra

Love all these ceremony choices! They are all stunning and sound like special reasons for being chosen.

Our venue has a gorgeous waterfall and chapel. I didn't think I would be so enamored by it, but the more I visit my venue and see photos the more I feel like the place is just phenomenal.

Our venue isn't a special location, but the building has a lot of Victorian charm that I love. We're going to get photos close by in our historic district.

We loved ours for its natural beauty. We didn’t need to add any flowers, or any extra decor. I think it looked more romantic and not super over the top which we didn’t want!

The waterfront view was the most important aspect to have for our ceremony as well as the private floor for our wedding party and us to get married. The nature surrounding us was beautiful as it was giving its sunshine on our day.

But then when it had to be changed we just didn't care at that point Smiley tongue As long as we got married it didn't matter how soaking wet we got in the rain on the grass Smiley laugh

Our ceremony is going to be held in a separate room at our venue. We want to make sure everyone has a place to sit and there is no turn around time. Mobility is an issue for FH's parents so we wanted to make sure that at all times they could be comfortable. I also didn't want too much travelling with it being a winter wedding. So while it has no real sentimental strings the convenience is perfect.

Ours isn’t very special to me only because I’m not religious. Our ceremony is at my FH’s church. We chose it because I don’t think his side would have been very happy if we didn’t, and to me it didn’t matter.

We really like our priest though! So in that way, I’m looking forward to it.
