Congrats! I am in the same boat I recently got engaged in October and we are planning on a two year engagement. I am just focusing on researching venues and prices for everything so I can budget properly. I love WW for all the help and support from other brides to be. Please reach out if you need to share ideas or questions

    Welcome and congratulations!

I see that you said that you're 2 years away from your wedding date, so you're definitely good to start planning now! When thinking about your small wedding, you should first set your budget, then prepare your guest list accordingly. Everything else usually falls into place once you have those two things taken care of. Consider a nice restaurant versus a hall for the reception and be open-minded!

    Best of luck Smiley heart

Welcome to the Wedding Wire Community! Congrats on the engagement!! Planning your wedding will be fun, and planning a budget wedding can be s a super fun challenge!

    -DIY anywhere you can.

-Check for wedding dresses on budget sites

-Pinterest boards save my life for keeping my ideas organized.

-See if there are any free venue options for you (Family members or a friends’ property)

-Create Spotify playlists rather than hiring a band or DJ can also cut costs quite significantly

-Cater it yourself enlist or even just make the Late Night Meal yourself, It can be super simple: sandwiches, veg and dip, chips and dip..

-Remember you can always ask for help from family members and friends!!

P.S. We’re at the WW community are always here for you too!! Questions or even just to vent! Smiley tongue

    Welcome!

Even though you aren’t getting married for 2 years, it definitely doesn’t hurt to start a rough budget/guest list and start poking around at venues. This way, you can start to get a feel of what is doable for your wedding.
Most of the time, venues and vendors will increase their prices each year to keep up with inflation, so booking early can help lock in a 2019 rate for at 2021 wedding! There might be some vendors you end up doing without, for us we didn’t hire a decorator since we can DIY most of what we want.

    Welcome to the community!

We had a small wedding by keeping it to parents, siblings, nieces and nephews, grandparents and aunts and uncles. I have way too many cousins so they didn't make the list. We made it a Sunday afternoon ceremony and luncheon reception in September, so our venue didn't have a huge mandatory spend. We ended up with about forty guests and saved a ton on the bar bill (and no need for a DJ) as we didn't have dancing and drinking all night. With the savings we were able to splurge a bit on a bringing in a hugely marked up sushi platter and expensive bottle of scotch, but those were "nice to haves" not necessities. We also went the DIY route and saved a lot on decor.

Welcome to the Wedding Wire community! Congratulations on your engagement!

It’s never too early to start planning, and sometimes when you do you there are discounts!

To cut costs, I would suggest choosing an off/shoulder season date/time. There are tons of ways to have a wonderful inexpensive wedding.

    Congratulations!

Having a small cheaper wedding is absolutely doable, especially if you start planning and booking now. I started booking 2 years out and I was able to save quite a bit by getting the price at the time rather than the price when I get married.

DIYing will also be your best friend, and its so much fun! You can bond with your entourage doing your crafts and save at the same time! Feel free to check the articles and the forums for ideas and tips; we're all here to help!

Not at all! I have been dreaming about my wedding since I was 5 years old!!! And started a list in my phone by the time I was 12 years old!

Now is a great time to start looking at venues (even if you are looking at doing a park wedding or backyard wedding) and determining a rough estimate as to how many guests you want to have.

If you do go with a venue - some are already booking into 2020 or later so it's never too early.

Plus you may want a specific date! Dates don't have to be anything special, but if you can get it then why not!? Maybe you have a favourite holiday/ season? Or you want it on your anniversary? Maybe the day you met each other?
