Skipping the Photographer ..

Cassie, on September 23, 2019 at 17:17 Posted in DIY 0 12

Looking for a friend here..

We are having a destination wedding in Mexico this upcoming April. It's already starting to add up & my photographer friend had to drop out due to an unexpected pregnancy. Anyways, photography packages are insanely expensive. 2 of my bridesmaids are not loving not having a photographer..

Looking for advice - "Getting Ready" photos we take ourselves - I'm not that comfortable in front of cameras to begin with.

Our ceremony photos are covered with the package we have already.

Family photos, bridal party photos and our individual couple photos will be covered by a different friend.

Everything else were leaving up to our guests with a # for IG and for the app we have with wedding wire.

Just need someone to let me know its going to be just fine! & if you have any other creative ideas for photos without a photographer please let me know!!

Thanks!

Oh I have so many questions for you about your wedding but I won’t bombard you! I’m looking at a small 3 hour package for after the ceremony for bridal party photos, family + friends photos and then it’ll give us enough time for just us two to have a couple photos too. If we added an extra hour we’d have our first dance too but I think everyone else will get some good shots too.

    Thank you!

We are also having a destination wedding next April, and we aren't going overboard with photography. We are getting one of the smaller packages that will include bride/groom getting ready, the ceremony, and some group photos afterward. We aren't continuing photography into the reception to cut on cost, but also because those won't be the photos we plan on framing and we feel we will have enough documented with people's cameras/phones. I personally wouldn't want to forgo professional photography altogether, but maybe you can find a happy medium!

My advice for you is: in any case, get a photographer.

It depends on each person value, but my best investment that I made when I married was hiring a good photographer. God! I couldn’t remember everything if I hadn’t had my photographer taking all the details, from the beginning to the end. Always when I see them it’s like living that moment back.

Wedding is a thing that happens just once in your life, you can’t get it back, the only thing that you keep are your memories.

    Good luck!

I think you have the important things covered. I would be saving my money if it was just for getting ready. I'm sure your wedding party would be more than willing to snap a few pictures.

My cousin found a cheap photographer in dominican where she got married see if your hotel knows someone or they can referr you to someone. if not does anyone in your family have a DSLR? my cousin has one and we all know how to use so we get great photos even tho NONE of us are professional photographers at all

Your plan sounds good for all the photos you want!! I wouldn't worry about not having a pro-photographer!

Ah our package only covers 50 ceremony photos and a short video of the ceremony. We’re looking into a couple just to see if we’re up for it.

We are also doing a destination wedding. The photo package that we have does the ceremony, reception, family and couple photos. I am totally fine with not having getting ready pictures taken. I think that the photos I will treasure most will be of me and my groom, and our families.

I agree with all the ladies. You have your family photos and your ceremony photos and those are the most important!
We only have our photographer to do short getting ready photos, family pics, the ceremony and the main dances. Anything outside of that such as us sitting all morning getting hair done, or dancing will be done by guests!
It will all be ok! Smiley smile

We only had photography for the ceremony and a few family pictures. All together we had an hour of professional photography which gave us around 100 shots. I was happy with what we had and wouldn't change it.

As long as you have the ceremony pics and the family photos & etc. covered - I think you will be just fine without a professional photographer that would otherwise cost you literal thousands of dollars!!
