Signing of papers

I think this is optional

Signing the paper was done before the pronouncement. It took a few minutes for us and the best man(s) as witnesses to sign the paper and book.

Oh, how we suffered from this same question. But fortunately came to the same decision as Erin.By the way, I wanted to share a link very interesting. To me, it was actual while was at university. With the preparation for the wedding, there was no time for studies, essays and so on. We did it during our ceremony after the vows and before the pronouncement.

We will most likely sign right after we say our vows and I do's

We are doing our vows, then signing the paperwork. After the signing we will be pronounced husband and wife, followed by the kiss and exit.

We will be doing this at a signing table at the front of the room between the kiss and being pronounced "Man and Wife". I think it's nice for people to feel like they saw the real legal part of it happen, so they know for sure I've had about half the wedding I've been to do it during the ceremony, and I like it better. It only takes a moment, and I feel like it's the timeline that makes the most sense.

We thought of this but when our photographer asked us where we were doing the signing table so she can get the pictures we thought we would do it during there ceremony because we aren't doing a first look and it has to be on the same day

I like this! I want it to be before we are declared husband and wife (because technically we aren't until we sign) but wasn't sure how it would flow in the ceremony. Thanks!

We are doing it during the ceremony. It takes no time at all. Everything will be ready to go so literally all we have to do is sign. Me, fiance, best man and MOH.. will take 5 minutes, maybe less.

We will be signing our papers before the ceremony so we dont have to set up a signing table. Our officiant said it wouldnt be an issue!

Our signing will be during the Ceremony, our officiant said we can't do it in advance really.

Our ceremony order is: Words of Welcome, declaration of intent, Exchanging of Vows, Exchanging of Rings, A reading (poem), Signing the Marriage Document, Prounounced Husband/Wife and Kiss then our introduction of husband and wife.

This is the wording I'm using for the signing:

"While this wedding is a celebration of love and commitment, it is also a legal ceremony. I ask MOH and BM to join me and the bride and groom at the table.

The signing of a marriage certificate is not just a legal requirement. It is in fact an ancient custom that represents the concept that not only must marriage be entered into consensually by both parties, but that it is also a social contract between a couple and their community…for the good of all. Signing the marriage documents is also a self-defining moment for GROOM and BRIDE…perhaps one of the most impactful and consequential moments of their lives. So I ask them to sign the documents before them.

BRIDE/GROOM SIGN

I ask MOH and BM to sign the marriage license as witnesses to this moment.

MOH/BM SIGN

May the legal benefits and obligations of marriage enhance your life for all the years to come."

Yes, right after we say I do and we're pronounced husband and wife, we'll kiss then sign the papers at the table set up next to the altar.

Do you know when in the ceremony you are doing it?

We will be incorporating it into the ceremony. I feel like it's an important part for everybody to watch! Yes, officially bringing the government into my relationship! hahah
