Signage for the Wedding

Jessie, on June 13, 2018 at 08:03 Posted in DIY 0 10

I am doing a DIY project for all our signs for the wedding and I want to use wood and write on it like things you see on pinterest. Does anyone have tips or ideas of how to do this and where to get supplies aka the wood slabs, easels and writing supplies?

I could definitely use that. I am not so good at writing or caligraphy. Pinterest is so helpful! Thank you!!

Michaels is the source if you are willing to spend more than you anticipate. Seek online for companies comparing pricing.

I used this technique for making my wedding signs, since I can’t write as nicely as those Pinterest signs. It worked like a charm!

Look up Happily Ever Crafter on youtube. She has tutorials and info on what/where to buy.

That's a great idea. I will have to ask around and see what is around my area for contractors and such.

I'll check Michaels and maybe even value village has some vintage styled slabs or stencils I can find.

    I will try that.

I have a couple afternoons set aside for my friend and MOH to come help me as they are more artistic but they keep getting busy and cancelling and switching times so it's making it hard to have plenty of time to have trial runs.

Definitely try Michael’s for stencils or stickers.
And try Pinterest for diy tips/hacks/instructions.

And maybe this goes without saying but give yourself time to create trial versions.

I would make sure you do a clear coat or stain to seal the wood before and a clear coat to seal after you paint it. Also a pencil to trace out the writing before actually painting works the best so you can see the spacing and sizing of letters and make adjustments till it’s the look you want.

Micheals is a great place for quality painting supplies. Just go to the wood project section. Depending on the look, size, and price you want for the wood slabs you could call around to businesses and see if they have some pallets you could grab for free (they usually pay someone to take them away), habitat resale stores, friendly contractors or woodworks with left over building supplies. Or else you can probably find they ready to paint online or in art and hobby stores but they may be more pricey.
