should their diet be my problem?

Kira, on June 21, 2016 at 01:44 Posted in Wedding reception 0 10

So I’m a bit mad right now. My family and I were thinking of doing most of the cooking ourselves. We wanted to cook traditional meals from our family in the caribbeans, which involves lots of fish and meat. Recently, some guests started contacting us to tell me they could not eat most of the things that were on the menu because they had dietary issues. Some of them are vegan, others can’t eat fried food, no sugar, no gluten,... but hey what can I do? I can’t go crazy over this and change the whole menu for them. I would at least like people to eat what my family and I have carefully prepared for them. Am I too bossy if I keep the menu the way it is? Should I change it? We are cooking a lot of rice, beans, beef, chicken, fish, fried plantain, but still have a some veggies like cabbage, mushrooms, carrots, avocados, …

Some gueats have restrictions on what they can't have and should be able to work around it. Take what you have and see what cane be made didferently to accomodate some guests. Venues even work around dietary requirements. I hope all went well and ypur day was amazing.

I hear ya, you will never be able to choose foods/a meal that everyone will be on board with. At the end of the day, it's your wedding and I say do what makes you happy. I am a very picky eater, but after reviewing your list, I would be able to find a few things that I would eat...I think the same can be said about your guests. They may not like everything, but I'm sure they will find a couple items to like. My fiance and I opted to choose the same meal for everyone (chicken & beef on the same plate), if someone doesn't like it, too bad!

Best of luck on this hun! Smiley smile

Hi Em! No I want to have the menu written in one place and then since we'll have a buffet have the ingredients and name of every dish written on the trays.

I understand where your coming from but as a vegan myself i appreciate when people respect my diet restrictions. it's for health issues and i think you should still cook your menu but maybe offer option without meat?
