September 2021 brides - cautiously optimistic

Kelly, on January 13, 2021 at 17:48 Posted in British Columbia 0 12

Hi there!

I have secured my wedding date for 1 September 2021. I live in Vancouver, but all our family + friends are from elsewhere in the world. Worried international travel restrictions will in place then still, however at the same time being cautiously optimistic things will work out. Hoping for the best for our wedding this year, but thinking of a plan B too! I know it may be a good idea to plan for a 2022 wedding, however it just seems so far away, and who knows what the world will look like in a few months?!

Anyone else in the same situation?

We're also set for September 17th in Kelowna - venue and photographer are booker. Our wedding planner has advised us not to book entertainment, in case there is still no dancing. I'm cautiously optimistic, but feeling very anxious about booking anything else, and also don't want to be left with no vendors being available. Hoping they elaborate on what 'think small' means by April.

We will for sure have dinner after our ceremony. We live in Alberta and it would be a shame if we drove all the way to Kelowna and not have a dinner afterwards. We also want our wedding as normal as possible even if that means only having a course meal and not a buffet dinner.

Do you intend on having a dinner/reception if the wedding is not postponed again? I only have a small group of guests (under 15 people), however, I'm not sure if I should plan for dinner after the ceremony or not. I'd like to know what other couples thoughts.

It's so tough, isn't it? Although, all our guests would have to be traveling from out of the country... think it may be too soon for international travel by then. We looking at post-poning to next year JulySmiley sad

Yes ! My wedding date is in October 2021 and I just booked a venue last month and looking at vendors . Stressful because I don’t know if I should start putting down deposits . I’m optimistic but I feel like we won’t know enough to make a decision to postpone for another 2-3 months Smiley sad

I hope everyone you want at your wedding will be there! Smiley heart

We haven't set a date yet, but thinking late summer/early autumn. We are also optimistic that the situation (in Ontario) will be much improved by then. We don't want to wait until 2022.

My fiance and I are going ahead with our August 7 2021 wedding as of right now in Kelowna. We already postponed our first date August 8 2020 back in May and don't really want to postpone again. The only way that we'd postpone again is if gathering sizes don't increase more then 10. We're waiting until maybe the end of March early April or even May before we make a final decision about postponing another year. But I am hopeful that by early summer things will look a lot better then right now.

We also have a lot of family members that are out east and can't come west because of province's being closed. As well as older family members that are in the vulnerable category, so that will also be another factor to consider. It's a lot of uncertainty right now Smiley sad
