Self Catered Wedding

Shontelle, on February 8, 2018 at 12:24 Posted in Wedding reception 0 4

Hello all,

Has anyone ever done all of the food for their own wedding reception? I am considering doing this and doing an Italian buffet meal Ie. a few different types of pasta, different sauces, meats like meatballs, grilled chicken etc. and then salad and garlic bread or buns. We are going to have a wedding of little under 100 people so it will not be too huge of a crowd to feed haha! We would hire a couple of people for the wedding day to handle the food (set up, refill dishes and clean up). Just looking to get some feedback or personal experiences if anyone has done this Smiley smile

I have not done this but I think you could save a lot of money but it will definitely take a lot of time.

Thanks for the replies! I'm glad that others have successfully done this as it seems like a great way to save some money on catering and as long as it is not a huge wedding I think it is definitely do-able!

We are catering our own wedding! My mom and step dad will be making pulled pork, baked beans, salads, buns, etc for about 170 people.

We will also be hiring a couple people for the day of putting food together and keeping dishes full etc

my brother and sister in law did this for their weddig a couple years back and it worked really well! Saved a lot of money as well!

We're self catering our wedding! Well, with a little help the day of (haha) We're doing a gourmet burger bar, so all sorts of nice buns, toppings, and stuffed burgers which we are making ourselves. We hired the Masons (my father is a member) by donation to barbecue the day of the wedding and set the food up buffet style. My future mother in law's family is making a bunch of sides, a bunch of different salads and such. We're making all the salads in mass so that we can just set out the different options at once and not have to replace them Smiley smile we're also doing a big dessert bar!
