Rustic diy Decorations

Felicia, on January 27, 2021 at 00:04 Posted in DIY 2 9

Hi all! I am doing my wedding myself, and need some ideas for decorations that you can't pin to the walls - our venue unfortunately has HUGE rules about having anything placed on the walls. SO! Would just like some rustic wedding reception ideas that I can do myself and have the wedding planner set up Smiley smile Thanks loves!

Lovely venue, you can do much with your centerpieces and greenery/flowers. Use your bouquet and bridesmaids for decor on the head table (just remember your heights). Laying some greenery along the center of the tables with pops of colour (fruit, coloured pinecones). Vases with water and sliced fruit or flowers. We are using submersible lights (Micheals) and floating candles with flowers in the vases. This way every table has light all night and you will focusing on the tables more than the surroundings. Use the fireplace, pedestals/crates/boxes are great you can even drape boxes with scarves/tablecloths/sheets to create different spaces the place flowers or greenery. Go walking and look for things in your area you can use. We've been collecting pinecones and growing holly bush and some other plants in portable planters that we can easily take to the venue.

Just remember set up/take down and take home/storage - ensure you have someone who can hold onto your items until you are back home.

    Good luck, stay healthy.

Glad I can help Smiley smile If the pedestals are light enough, you can move them to the ends of the head table. That's what we're doing for our setup.

Just be aware about being in front of a window for the reception. It'll look nice while you there but depending on how the light hits, you could be backlit in the photos until the sun goes down, especially if the window faces west.

Youtube some videos on making arches with copper piping! That is what we are doing for our DIY arch. You don't need to solder the fittings together necessarily so you can take them apart for easy transport. You can spray paint them too if you do not like the rose gold look.

Honestly, half the work is done for you due to the wooden aesthetic the venue incorporates. Is this for the ceremony or reception, or both? If you're using it for the ceremony, I would stand in front of the fireplace (hopefully it can be lit up) and you can forgo an arch. Instead, bring in something like a pedestal on each side to prop up some flowers/plants if you want to have something frame you at the front. They're easier to set up and weigh less than an arch.

What kind of space do you have? You mentioned wanting rustic so is it a rustic inspired venue or a blank canvas banquet hall?
