Ring replacement

Taylor, on July 5, 2019 at 01:42 Posted in Wedding ceremony 0 10

Me and my FH arnt exchanging rings as my fingers swell when I wear rings (My moms the same way) and he has autism and we think it would bother him. So we are trying to think of a different way to have the same symbolism as exchanging rings because I dont plan on having a tattoo artist waiting there to do them on the spot! Please share your ideas as I am stumped besides doing a unity candle but that makes me nervous again with my FH having ASD.

Have you looked into hand fasting ceremonies ?

You could either do it with ropes, strands of silk or other materials.

Thank you everyone for your amazing ideas! I have decided on the tree planting and we are going to plant a little baby jade tree because they dont get too big and are hard plants to kill

Thank you. Like I mentioned to Casey that poses a texture issue even though it is a very sweet idea. I even like it better then exchanging rings. So far my favorite suggestion is planting a tree. or just planting something period together thats hard to kill haha

The issue is the only material he seems to like jewelery wise is those friendship bracelets. But that is a cute idea! Thank you

I do love the idea of planting a tree. We could keep it in our house if its a small enough one!

Silicone rings can be an alternative to the issue and not get stuck if your finger swells up. Look into it and see if the idea goes well.

I do agree with Casey's idea of necklaces with the rings so that you don't have to wear it on your finger, around your neck rather. This way it does symbolize your marriage and easier to know its there with you.

More ideas are going to be given as you hear from others. Take the best suggestion you like and go with it.

What about if you guys do necklaces? You can get some nice necklaces for each other to wear instead of a ring. You could even do bracelets and wear them on your left hand.

What about using silicone rings? Would that work better?

Me being who I am I would just take a marker and draw a ring on our fingers 😂 But I would also make sure to do it as best I can!

There have also been a bunch of ideas thrown around on other discussions such as; sand, painting, hand fasting, unity cocktail, candle, wine boxing, tree planting, candy machine filling, etc.

You can do the sand ceremony - same idea as the candle but different coloured sand.. What about cheap rings just to exchange for the ceremony and then take them off. I mean, really, you can do nothing. You certainly don't have to exchange anything or do any kind of unity ceremony. Short and simple and seal it with a kiss.
