Rhym or cool way to ask for usd $ instead of cad $ in the honeymoon fund.

Carly, on March 10, 2018 at 14:08 Posted in Honeymoon 0 11

I'm trying to find a cool way to ask for USD money for our honeymoon trip to Alaska. Instead of Canadian cash.. It would be cool for people who have random leftover USD $$$ that they aren't going to use to bring it. Smiley smile

I would not, and am not, doing that. My FH and I are going to the US for our honeymoon as well, and we will just convert CAD to USD on our own. Our guests don't need to worry about doing that.

Have you heard of the Honey-fund site? It’s like gofundme but is strictly for honeymoons and they don’t take a portion of the earnings! This is a nice way to ask without seeming too selfish or picky!

I wouldn't ask unless if you've got guest coming from the states then you can specifically ask them you'll gladly accept usd. My FH family are all from the states and they have given us usd for Christmas so we know already to ask them to keep its usd since we are going to state side as well.

This sounds great! You know your guests best so if you think it's a question worth asking (as in it would generate quite a bit of us revenue) then go for it! I would only worry about people feeling they had to go convert money to us so maybe try to specify that this is simply if they have it extra and laying around.

It is super cute in theory, but may be a little off putting for guests.

I don’t think you should say anything about it as it’s a bit off putting. A honey moon fund that you can exchange the money after is a way better way to approach it.

I think if you want to ask for American dollars that may be laying around, your poem is cute, but ultimately be prepared for some cheques or Canadian cash from the majority of guests.

Matt and I are going to Alaska,

Spare money for our trip is all we ask-a.

Toonies and loonies are not good up there,

Some American bills would be good fare.

Unfortunately I don’t think there’s a great way to bring that up to your guests beforehand. It’s a great idea in theory to get your guests to give you their USD currency that’s just collecting dust in their drawers, but I think in practice it will be very awkward to execute.
