Rehearsal dinner - who to invite?

Sarah, on August 26, 2019 at 16:42 Posted in Before the wedding 0 13

Is there a rule for who to invite? we are having 47 guests at our wedding and will need to set up the venue the day before. whats the rule of thumb? do i need to invite the grandparents , aunts uncles etc?

Just the people at the rehearsal (us, bridal party, parents, person marrying us). We invited our coordinator, because she was there running everything, but she didn't come.

The day before, my mom INSISTED that our out of town family be invited. I told her it was supposed to just be a small group, super casual drinks and appies, we didn't want to make a big thing of it. It was just a way to chill with friends and parents before the wedding.

She didn't listen and invited them anyways, so they were there weirdly watching our dress rehearsal....eugh. Also...I felt especially put off by it because my inlaws were paying for the rehearsal dinner...so to impose 5 additional guests onto their bill was very rude.

Anyways...i digress....invite whoever the heck you want and just hope your mom doesn't just make dumb decisions behind your back.

We are having our wedding party, both sets of parents and then international guests so we can spend time with them before the big day.

I'd keep it smaller since wedding is small but it totally up to you.

We are only having the wedding party and parents. As in our case this is already 15 people and I didn't want to be overwhelmed.

I'm just figuring this out too! Our wedding is 120-130 people, depending on a few last RSVPs. For our rehearsal, we are inviting wedding party and dates, immediate family (parents, siblings not in the party, nieces and nephews), Our MC and his wife, my godmother/decorator, etc. It adds up to 30 people, which for us, is a reasonable size.

For the size of your wedding, I would just do wedding party and parents/anyone else involved in the ceremony. Some people say to invite aunts/uncles/cousins/out of town guests, but it can turn into a second wedding very easily.

Girl, invite who ever you feel comfortable. I don’t think there is a rule. We are literally having the wedding party, their dates and our immediate family. You can go as big or small as you’d like.

I agree with Tori- your wedding is very intimate and for rehearsal I would say just the wedding party and parents.

Seeing as how you are having such an intimate wedding it would be safe to stick to just the immediate family and wedding party. Don't worry about any out of towners or anything like that.

I was just trying to figure this one out this morning! A few things I read said immediate family and wedding party plus their dates. If you had any out of town guests you would also invite them.
We are keeping it simple and just doing the wedding party (all our siblings) and then our parents.

I was just going to have the parents of myself and my fiance and our wedding party. Small and simple!

Usually it’s whoever is involved in the ceremony. Your bridal party, parents, anyone doing special readings or things like that.
