Rehearsal Dinner Seating

Allison, on September 11, 2019 at 15:58 Posted in Before the wedding 0 17

This weekend my mom, FH, FSIL and I are starting to put together the seating chart for the wedding! We have lots of wine on hand for it lol

That being said, is/did anyone do(ing) a seating plan for rehearsal dinner? We weren't planning on it but we have 30 people coming and some will be meeting a lot of the others for the first time. If anything, we might a table for wedding party, my family, and FH's family and we'd mingle between them.

Should we have a seating plan for the rehearsal dinner, or am I overthinking lol?

Overthinking it! We didn't have one and people just naturally found their spots that made sense to them.

    Yup lol!

    Breakdown of everyone: my FH and I (2), Wedding Party (8), S/O's (4), Immediate Family (8), others (8) = 30

Yeah, ours is wedding party (and their S/O's), immediate family, and a few who are helping out with the ceremony.

Im not doing a seating plan for the rehearsal dinner. people can sit beside who they want. but only immediate family and our wedding party are attending - after that it gets too many people and too chaotic lol

That's very true! I just didn't want people filling up one table and having 2 at another or having FH and I "stuck" at one table. I think I won't worry about it and trust that people will mingle and have a good time!

I agree with Erin! It really depends on how formal it is. I think for a rehearsal many people are not expecting to be told to sit. So just let them find their own seat. It would be like a huge party going out for dinner at a restaurant. People will sit where they want, and will mingle during dinner!

It's not as formal as the wedding, for sure, but it's held in the same hotel so there is some level of fancy, we want a more casual vibe.

I don't think a seating plan is necessary for 30 people. We have 15 and we weren't doing one. Grab a seat to put your butt in lmfso Smiley xd

For me, the rehearsal dinner is going to be VERY casual, and I want people mixing and mingling as much as possible, so we won't have assigned seating. I think it depends on how formal the event is.

I couldn't fathom making a seating plan for 200+ people!!

The rehearsal dinner is supposed to casual too, others will probably move around and mingle

I took one look at our guest list of over 200 people and gave up... lol I will be putting out reserved seating for immediate family and let the rest find their own seats. Same for the rehearsal. I trust that 2 dozen people will sit accordingly for that. I wouldn't over think it, since it's such a small amount of people I'm sure they will have no problem asking people to move over to have S/O's be able to sit next to each other if there isn't' enough room.
