Rehearsal Dinner/lunch?

Hank, on August 25, 2020 at 19:58 Posted in Before the wedding 0 7

For those having a rehearsal, are you having a meal with your family and bridal party that day as well? If so, what is everyone doing? Casual lunch at a restaurant? Catered meal at home? Formal sit down dinner at the venue of your reception?

We're likely having a daytime rehearsal on a weekend. Since we're in Richmond Hill, there are tons of amazing Chinese restaurants (one of which is where my future brother in law got married at) so we'll likely go there for dim sum.

We are hoping to get everyone together for an early dinner (pre rehearsal) at one of FH and my favourite local restaurants. Our families / parties are notoriously difficult to work with in terms of getting them all together though so who knows?

We are having a BBQ hosted by my MIL. She did the same for my fiances brother. I cannot wait! It will most likely be the first time our families meet.

We are going to do our rehearsal dinner at a small local winery. I believed were doing the rehearsal the Thursday evening and getting married on the Saturday. We hosted my Dad's surprise 60th there last year and it was fantastic. We are thinking of having it kind of as more of a social gathering with family and the wedding party and having a bunch of nibble foods (sliders, flat bread pizza, various hors d'oeuvres) set out on the table, or passed around.

Sounds delish! I don’t know if we’ll do a rehearsal dinner in the traditional sense. The dynamics on my side of the family are such that a more intimate event could be a little uncomfortable. Ideally, I’d like to follow our ceremony rehearsal up with a cottage party / pig roast, to which I would invite the wedding party and friends who have travelled from a distance. Lots of time to mull this one over!

If we end up having one it'll just be something small at my inlaws house. I'm sure theyll have it catered by their favourite place.

    Ooh dim sum sounds amazing.
The hospitality group that owns our venue also owns a farm to table restaurant in town that we’re going to for dinner afterwards

We're having a rehearsal the day before in the morning and then my mother in law is hosting a big dinner in the evening for everyone at the estate house that is on the property of the winery that we're getting married at. The dinner will also be catered by the winery.
