Rehearsal dinner

Hi everyone, we are hoping (yet again) to go ahead with our June wedding.

Fingers crossed!!!!

We are having a small wedding (40 people)

Our venue is an hour away for most of the immediate people we would have for a rehearsal dinner.

I was thinking of having a casual bbq at our house a week before. I don’t think we necessarily need to go to the venue to go over anything as our wedding party consists of a MOA and BM only.

Is that too much to expect of people? Carving out two weekends just for us?

It would be much easier than the night before I think.

Should we even do one? This is our second time around but my family is so excited! I would like to have the celebration go on for more than a few hours on the day. Just don’t want to feel like people have to come.

Confused and need help lol

    It doesn't have to be the week of the wedding but personally, if I were in the wedding party, I'd prefer a weeknight over a weekend. I would like to have a weekend for my own personal leisure but if it's the only option, I won't say no. A weeknight casual barbecue at your house would be fine if you don't need to do an extensive walkthrough of the grounds. I would suggest going over the plan, even briefly, so everyone is somewhat aware of what's happening prior to the wedding.

    I should add - nice way to thank AND not take up our whole weekend lol. Also generally people do Thursday's for rehearsals before the wedding and I hate that so the weekend before actually sounds better to me personally!

    We went to a friends rehearsal that was the week before. It's a really nice way to thank your wedding party for all of their help and support. If they don't want to come to dinner they can say no but given they don't have to travel I don't see why they would say no 🤷🏻‍♀️
