Registry

A registry is usually included in the link where guests RSVP. It technically starts after invites are sent but you can start building one leading up to you sending invites.

Not sure what you mean by "trying to find ways to save money for the wedding" in regards to the registry. A registry is meant to be a list of potential gifts. I guess you could use it for wedding expenses but not sure how people would feel about that. And people tend to buy off a registry fairly late in the wedding planning process so if the idea is to move ahead with wedding spending after you've accumulated gifts from guests, it might not work the way you intended.

Sending registry links prior to or without an invite would be considered bad form for many people.

Registry can start at anytime.
I started mine a few months back and added it to the website under “Wedding Blog”. My fiancé did not want us to mention it to the guests in any way, however, we sent the link of our website and let them review it.

You can start it at anytime you like! Just let your guests know on whatever platform you have your invitations on whether it is online on on paper invitations so they know where you guys are registered at

You can start your registry anytime you wish though it can be posted on the website or Invitation for guests/family to know where to go and under what name.
